a review of the 10th KLEMdag by Jens Peschke
To those who had no opportunity to join the KLEM thing:
It was really amazing. I never saw so many delicious CD´s dancing
attendance on me,
all were crying: "Try me, buy me" ;-)
And the prices (of the official releases) are reasonable too, btw.
Marcel Engels said (quoted from GoldTri):
"Great perfromance by RMI. Mellotron on stage, lots of analog sequencer-stuff.
I just had to close my eyes and I was away. Superb."
Yes, he´s right: IT WAS SUPERB, but I was watching the brilliant
live video performance during
the concert.
I thought: "Damn! How is it possible that a video fits so perfectly
to the music"
All was cleared after realizing that two video artists (Tim and ?)
had performered it live.
Excellent video performance. Period.
Ash Ra Tempel was the highlight of the 10th KLEMdag, IMO.
MG, Lutz Ulbricht and Harald Grosskopf teamed with the young German
Steve Baltes.
They performormed remixes of "Pluralis", "Echo Waves" from "Inventions
for Electric Guitar",
"4 Guitars", "6 Voices" from "Walkin´the desert" and new stuff.
Electronic Beat music at its best. Definitely.
"Pluralis - remix":
The first track started with Steve Baltes. He creates a deep bright
sound, the sequences came in quickly.
After a few minutes Harald appeared with a great drumplay. Lutz turned
in with slightly echoed
rhythm guitar work, and the audience got wild, when lazy bones Manuel
joined them playing solo guitar.
It has a really kicking Beat. Gee! I didn´t realize that it was a rework of Inventions until they told us.
Is was much better than the original and especially ist development was stunning.
"Echo Waves - remix":
The Beat was so incredible that two listeners suddenly began to dance.
I don´t know if one of them was Mario Schönwälder getting
wild but it could be ;-)
Mario Schönwälder himself said: (quoted from the space-music list)
"[...] real good concerts - especially the ashra track echo waves.
brilliant! i must dance!"
:-))))
As you already know, I really love kicking EM with monster Beats.
This one was the best Beat-EM performance I saw in lifetime.
Ash Ra Tempel will release 2 live CD from their Japan-Tour late in 1997
(Japan-releases).
A "Remix" CD will be released too. AND I´LL HAVE ALL OF THEM
!
They called themselfs again Ash Ra Tempel, BTW.
It was a good decision to team up with Steve Baltes ´cause MG
had only some synth-gear and
HIS guitar to control while Steve controlled most of the electronic
gear.
"Harry Bighead" did a great drumplay (every rockband would be very glad
about such a good drummer)
and Lutz´ synthplay and brilliant rhythmguitar-work complemented
THE STUNNING TEAM.
Another interesting concert was done by the (unknown?) German Norman
Friedenberger aka N:Force.
That has been his very first live concert and I can´t resist
to buy his new CD "Realtime Illusion" ;-)
The next KLEMdag must happen! I´ll be there :-)
