  • Bagnara Calabra is a pleasant small town of the Costa Viola, famous for the beauty of the women, like the old Melzi note. Of ancient origins, Bagnara is one of the most famous center both for the historical-cultural point of view and the touristic one. The delight of the place and its privileged position, between the sea, the hills and the mountains, makes write to one of its own most illustrious son, Father Antonino Gioffrè, pages which are full of love and truth: "A bewitching strip of land"; in this way he rightly defines Bagnara. It has a view which offers to the occasional passer-by wonderful daylights which peep out on the limpid sea.

The sunsets are also full of "pathos", the sun lies down the sheet of water which seems touch the sky. The Mythical Mermaid, object of love of Gaziano, could not found a more appropriate crown for her beauty.

Bagnara's history is very interesting; at times the certainty of its origins becames a legend.

During the time Bagnara knows the presence of Greeks, Goths, Longobards, Saracens and Normans. Bagnara grew up in the bank of Sfalassa' and Gaziano and went through and overcome every kind of disaster: earthquakes, landslips, landslides.
