Rotting Christ Band

History

Rotting Christ was formed in 1987 and one of Greek's first metal band (Black Metal to be exact).  The original line-up is still in the band until today although they have a lots of side project.  In the early days, they preferred to be known by their nick. Necromayhem (Sakis), Necrosavron (Themis) and Mutilator (Andreas).   Then came Magus Wampyr Daoloth (Thou Art Lord/Necromantia).  With the original line-up, they managed to release a demo, a couples of split LPs and Eps.

In 1991, they managed to capture the attention of the Underground with their EP release, Passage to Arcturo.  This release had managed to established their music and name in the Underground scene.  Then came the abysmal first LP, Thy Might Contract, released under black metal label Osmose Production. Their next LP was released by Unisound Records, Non Serviam; less melodic but more aggressive release.

After a deal with Century Media, Rotting Christ was back to three men line-up.  With this original line-up, the third LP was released with more melodic music and they had gone back to the Thy Mighty Contract sounds.  In 1997, the masterpiece of evil was unleashed, Dead Poem.  The best Rotting Christ album.  Addition of two new group members was made and this had made their sound more power than ever eventhough the addition occured after the recording.
