A lot of the musical stuff got compacted when there was such a hoo harr about mp3, and many site providers panicked and wouldn't host them in case of piracy. This was as far as I know, one of the first attempts (in the UK anyway) to put full length tracks on the web of bands that were unsigned.  Starting just before mp3, I had to use enormous wav files to start with. Theres still some good stuff there.

Most of the musical stuff can now be had here:

New tracks Feb. 2000: 22 Metre Band and Lord God Jesus. Coming soon: Exclusive track by Discordia.   The AFD Preamble was/is as follows Hello, welcome. The idea is to put out music by some really interesting bands who are original, imaginative, and often too uncommercial for thier music to gain them any sort of mass exposure. There is so much accessible so-called experimental music about on major labels that offers nothing new, its as much a rip off as anything else with a percieved target market. There is a place for proper experimental music where it can be directly accessed, and thats here and Internet in general. Not having to bother if it will make money does wonders for creative freedom. This is as good a place to start as any, it's all downloadable and free and you can listen to it using free software too.

All the best, Neil
