Woodstock news from Allstar: "The band debuted four new songs from their forthcoming release, The Science of Things, during their 90-minute set ("Warm Machine," first single "The Chemistry Between Us," "Disease of the Dancing Cats," and "40 Miles From the Sun") -- all of which were well received by the tired crowd. The day's first stage impostor came during "Insect Kin," as a young girl made her way onto the platform and ambushed singer Gavin Rossdale with kisses and hugs. Security was caught a bit off guard, as the young fan had quite a few seconds with Rossdale before being escorted off stage...Bush's set covered all the hits as well as some interesting covers in the form of Neil Young's "F*cking Up" and R.E.M.'s "The One I Love," the latter of which was resurrected from Bush's early set lists (the band played the song at their second American show ever at CBGB's in New York). "Little Things" closed out the set and first official day of Woodstock '99 well after 1 a.m."

Bush are confirmed for Woodstock In NY State; see "latest news". There's also a bunch of European club & fest dates this June: 11, Effenar, Eindhoven; 12 Nightown, Rotterdam; 13, Tivoli, Utrecht; 15, Posthuf, Linz; 17, Am Hafen, Innsbruck; 24, The Wedgewood Rooms, Portsmouth. Fests: 19, Heinekin Jammin' Festival, Imola; 25, Glastonbury Festival (SW UK); 26, Southside Festival, Munich; 27, Hurricane Festival, Scheessel. Not sure how much new stuff will be previewed; given gavin's comments in a recent Kerrang interview: "...I'm especially happy to be doing Glastonbury. It was annoying that we hadn't done it before. Let's hope there isn't a mudbath... Part of me would prefer to be playing Glastonbury with a fresh new record. But ...at Glastonbury we'll be playing five or six new songs".

amBUSH will list Bush's worldwide tour dates...when there are some. Bush have promised some UK dates, followed by a big N. American tour & maybe a festival or two, once the album's finally out; see 'latest news' & 'record news' for info on that.

Word is they won't hit the road again til early Spring '99 (probably March). Allstar ran an interview with gavin April 17/98, during which he was asked if Bush would tour this year: "I don't think so. Maybe we're going to play some festivals, but I don't think we're going to do a real tour. We're going to do one when the new album is out". Full interview at Allstar.

Gavin injured his hand Nov 13 in a Curitiba, Brazil mosh pit tug-of-war with his wallet chain. More info on world news page.

Bush played the last gig of their RBSC N. American tour in Toronto July 10th, an event marked by a 2 hour set, covers of REM's "The One I Love" and the Clash's "Guns of Brixton" & a back drop of fireworks.

In addition to the gigs listed in the links below, was a performance by Gavin & Nigel at the Q101 Jamboree in Chicago, May 25th, and Bush/VS were the suprise groups at a Miller/Molson Blind Date at Hollywood's The Palace, June 5. They played to a crowd of about 600 contest winners (10 from Canada) who were flown in from across the continent and didn't know who they'd be seeing 'til the night. Amongst the songs played was 'Pretty Vacant', perhaps as a nod to last year's blind date, the Sex Pistols. Other appearances: Blockbuster's Rockfest, Dallas, Texas Motor Speedway, June 21st, the Milwaukee Summerfest June 27 and the KROQ festival. They headed to Europe after the July 10 Toronto show to play Glasgow's T in the Park festival, among others, and take some time off.

The first Canadian RBSC Tour gig was April 17th. at Toronto's Maple Leaf Gardens. Tickets went on sale March 8 and Ticketmaster locations sold out in 38 minutes (with phone sales selling out shortly after).

Second leg gigs were:
Thu-June 19-Vancouver, B.C.,GM Place; Sun-June 22-Edmonton, AB, Coliseum; Mon-June 23-Calgary, AB, Saddledome; Tue-June 24-Saskatoon, SK, Saskatchewan Place; Wed-June 25-Winnipeg, MAN, Arena; Tues-Jul 08-Ottawa, ON, Corel Center; Wed-July 09-Montreal, QUE, Molson Center; Thu-July 10-Toronto, ON, Molson Amphitheater. There's a review of the June 19 Vancouver gig, incl. shots of Bush/VS/Souls, inDropD zine

Opening acts on April 17th. were fellow Steve Albini-produced band, Veruca Salt, and Age of Electric. Prior to the gig, the front members of both bands, plus Nigel & Gavin, stopped by Maple Leaf Gardens Hotstove Lounge for an interview with Toronto's The Edge. One day I may actually put up my photos of this, who knows. But if anyone taped the interview & wants to transcribe it for this site, that'd be cool because I didn't hear a thing. click here for more info and a copy of the tour schedule. Support act for second leg gigs was the now defunct Swedish quartet The Souls, formerly on Gavin's Mad Dog label, distributed by Trauma. Also opening from June 27-July 10 was the Jesus Lizard.
