3 CAR GARAGE
The Indie recordings, ‘95-’96
Day Has Come:
The intro started, and I was like "ooh, this is cool!". I was very impressed by what Hanson achieved at the ages they were on this album. How could any record company knock back this?????
Two Tears:
Probably one of the best songs on the album. Very cool. I know ‘kinda’ Hanson fans who didn’t buy this CD, but all love this song. The lyrics are simple and gorgeous. The guitar work is divine. I really like this song.
Thinking Of You:
Ooh…baby Tay voice!! Heh heh. It’s funny hearing these songs after MON’s been chiselled into your head. You can hear exactly what a true professional recording really does for a band. This version is so cool to hear...
River:
This is a pretty cool song. It took a while to grow on me, but it has. Go the guitar work (Isaac!). Very cool. Great lyrics, they are probably the best part of this song.
Surely As The Sun:
One word…magic. That piano solo is just stunning. I actually learnt to play it myself by ear, I love it that much. The piano work throughout really makes this song, along with fantastic lyrics. My favourite part vocally and lyrically is "I wanna share every moment of the day with you. And I wanna share every sunset and every sunrise, and every moonlit night…" It’s just gorgeous.
MMMBop:
So you don’t think Hanson wrote MMMBop eh?…eat this! Gotta love the way this version starts slow, and deliciously speeds up, sending many people into anticipation-hysteria (well, me anyway!). Wow, I mean, you think Hanson are good until you hear this, and it just takes it to a whole new level!
Soldier:
Oh…cute cute cute. You have got to love those younger siblings (‘or I’ll knock your nose off!’). My Dad cracks up laughing every time. As for the song…harmony harmony harmony!! The vocals on this song are simply magnificent. I adore them. And the story is told well through the lyrics too. I just love singing along with this song for the fantastic vocals! They are fully unreal.
Stories:
I hang out for this song every time I play this album. The first time I heard it I was instantly caught by the classy youth in Taylor’s voice, and I never really looked back. The lyrics are SO cute, and the song is just so fresh and crisp….ooh it’s all so exciting!
Pictures:
Hmm. It’s ok. Very rocky, which is cool. Not very strong lyrics, and the chorus isn’t one of my favourites. But yeah, still kinda cool.
Sometimes:
Sweeeeet lyrics. Big time. But just a few too many ‘Sha na na naaaa’s for me. Otherwise yeah, sweet, and with pretty harmonies. And a great bridge.
With You In Your Dreams:
Another MON ‘to be’. It’s really nice to hear it so fresh. The youth in Taylor’s voice along with the stirring lyrics really gets to you, making this version of this song really powerful. The album leaves you on Taylor’s last note, and generally the listener will sit in awed silence for a moment before full consciousness returns.... ;)
