What will you do on New Year's Eve?
Isaac: We'll be partying!! Yeah!!!
Zac: We'll be boozing!!
Isaac: Wait!…no! ….sorry…
Zac: No we didn't say that…
Taylor: We always just get together with our friends. We'll probably be home and just have a party with lots of our friends and do what people do on New Year's Eve. Have fun - set off some fireworks, do a big bonfire, something like that. Just have fun.
Isaac: We've kinda gotten into a habit of having New Year's Eve parites so I'm sure we'll be doing that this year.
Isaac: Making the record in comparison to the last one, it was pretty similar.
Taylor: It's just a blend of the Rock 'n' roll band sound with some kind of, you know, we'd throw in some quirky elements, having some scratching and some loops. It's just a blend of a lot of different stuff. But it's definitely based around the band, you know, the Rock 'n' Roll kind of… with a little bit of stuff to keep it interesting.
Isaac: Yeah, 'cause the last record was a little more loop-heavy than this one.
Taylor: Yeah, a little less loops… But I think, I mean as long as you keep the essence of what Hanson has always been.
Isaac: On the record we did end up working with Jonny Lang who's a blues guitarist. (Missing Your Love video playing) He's my age, which is really cool, to get to work with somebody that talented and who's of the same age. Also John Popper who's a harmonica player, virtuous harmonica player, really incredible.
Taylor: Yeah, he's amazing!
Taylor: it's cool to be able to have your peers come into the studio and actually go "Yeah, that's really cool", get into it and be able to be creative. It's encouraging. It's also fun to have people that you're fans of to interact and be a part of your record, it's a lot of fun.
Isaac: We also had a choir some in, Rose Stone form Sly and the Family Stone - she's a keyboardist, and she brought her choir in.
Taylor: And that was amazing!
Isaac: That was very, very cool!
Taylor: That's just like … crumb to… a Sly and the Family Stone member singing on our album.
Isaac: You realize how far you have to go before you really sing.
Taylor: When they step in you're like "Wow, we can not sing!"
Isaac: They didn't sing, they sang!!
Will there be any Hanson dance-remixes?
Isaac: Those were really cool actually 'cause on the last record there was some really cool…
Taylor: Whenever you hear your song and you're like "Well, that's pretty funky!" From the song you take one like ad-lib and then it's like, wait that's not even the same song, but it's cool!
Isaac: "Hanson - Where's the Love" - and all there was from the original version was "Where's the love…"
Taylor: "doo…doo…doo…"
Zac: It's amazing what some of the people do with the songs.
Isaac: it's pretty cool… There's is some very cool dance remixes done, so hopefully there'll be some cool ones to come.
You've cut your hair. Was that a difficult…
Isaac: Yeah… conscious thing or what?
Taylor: It was actually a subconscious thing. We shaved it and cut it off in the middle of the night…
Isaac: It was actually in the middle of the night and Zac and Tay came in to my room…
Zac: "Must cut hair! Must cut…"
Isaac: they got me to sit up and they just took the scissors and… no. I had thought about doing it for awhile and finally got the guts to do it. It's nice to do just something to change. I guess it's creative… You're not locked into that 'Oh, I've got long hair'-thing. Now you cut your hair!
Any reactions from the fans?
Taylor: About every different reaction.
Isaac: Yeah, there have been people who've been totally excited: "Oh it looks great! We love your new hairdo." And other fans have been like, "We understand… it's ok…We'll always support you and your decision to cut your hair… ahh…" and then they start to cry. But, you know all different kinds of reactions. I'm doing too good of a job, I'm actually almost crying now.… "I'm crying for myself!" So yeah, all different kinds of reactions.
