Where have you been boys?
Ike: We've been chillin' maxin' and relaxin'! Well we've been working but I like the way that phrase sounds! We've recorded the album and we've worked really hard on it. Everyone thinks we were just on holiday, but we weren't - we've been really busy in LA! We're total workaholics.
So you're telling us you had no time for holiday?
Ike: Well, no. We got really into surfing. We've had a few lessons but at the moment, we spend more time in the water than riding a wave.
Who's best at it?
Ike: No-one. We are all as bad as each other. We like to think we look quite cool but I'm not too sure we do.
Taylor: We're also rock climbers. We went to this place called Suicide Rock and learned to climb. It was 165 feet high and when we got to the top we were just screaming with happiness. It was mad.
Woah, so now you're all adrenaline junkies!
Zac: Yeah, dude! Nah, we just like getting out there and doing crazy things.
Would you even do a bungee jump?
Zac: Yeah!
Ike: I guess.
Taylor: Sure.
Have you missed your fans?
Zac: Of course. But we've been in contact with them all the time. We've been e-mailing some fans for ages now. We've also had the fan club magazine, so we haven't neglected all our fans. Everyone in Australia must be wondering where we've been, but we've been there if you can find us.
Have you played your new album to your fans?
Zac: No! Not yet, by some demo tapes of ours were stolen from our studio by a mystery thief. Then he sold them so a few people have already heard the album. It's really annoying that they were taken, but the people who have heard our new stuff say they really like it.
How have you all changed since we last saw you?
Ike: We've all grown about 4 inches! And now we all look like male models.
Zac: My voice has changed. I sound deeper now and i can't do all the high notes on the album.
Taylor: I look like Arnold Swarzenegger. I have had a plastic surgery and I am just all muscle. I 'm 6'4" - I'm huge. That was a joke, by the way. Actually, me and Ike have cut our hair, but Zac's kept his long. You need long hair when you're a drummer so you can rock out at the back and hide under your hair.
Now that your little brother and sisters are older, are there any plans for them to join the band?
Ike: Well, Mackenzie our little brother who is 6, is really into singing. I think he'll be the next one to go for it. Little Zoe also enjoys it so maybe she'll give it a go too.
Taylor: They wouldn't join us too. I think they'd set up a new group all on their own! Hanson is a three piece band.
Are you looking forward to fans screaming at you again?
Taylor: (sounding worried) Um... not sure really. It can get scary when people just freak out when you do nothing - just walk past them.
Isn't that what being a popstar is all about?
Taylor: Part of it it is. I guess. it's just weird when girls run up to you and ask you to marry them and think you're this amazing person. I'm just a normal guy. I do normal things. Just cos I am in a band it doesn't mean I am anything special .
We are not too sure that thousands fans will agree with you Taylor....
Taylor: (embarrassed) Well, you know... I don't really mind, but I do find it weird.
Have you all found girlfriends since the last time we saw you?
Taylor: No-one special, and to be honest, even if we did, I don't think it's something we'd like to talk about. It's kinda private.
Yeah but if Smash Hits readers want to know, we have to ask!
Taylor: I know and I salute you for doing your job, but really there is nothing to talk about. I swear.
How's school going for you guys?
Zac: Hmm. Okay. Yeah...
Taylor: Technically, Ike has graduated now so he doesn't have to have any more lessons. It's just me and Zac now. Although Ike is helping me out with Geometry. I hate it and he's really good at it!
Do you have a message for your Aussie fans?
Zac: Yeah! Please buy our record! You'll love it. It's more rock and roll than before cos we feel more like a rock and roll band.
Taylor: Say "Hi" and that I want to come to Bondi Beach and learn to be a surf dude! By the time I get there I think i will be a world expert and ready to take on the whole of Australia!
Ike: Tell them we've missed them really bad! And we are itching to come over and see them all!
Are there plans for you to visit Australia?
Ike: We really hope so. We just love the weather over there, it really rocks!
