emily
took her halo off
and stood; gently caressing the door frame
for that brief second perfect
alive for all to see
emily
took her makeup off
and sat; coarsely glancing in the mirror
flawed as just before
but out of her disguise
emily
took her hair down
and felt; the fibers, nonchalant
adorning her back
in disbelief, she trembled
stared at his eyes
through the polaroid frame
no matter, she thought, it would end up the same.
emily
took her clothes off
and withdrew; the current slightly chilling
windows waned from view
from then on I only knew
emily.
