- 20/3/99 - Sorry for the lack of updates, I've been busy with revision for mocks and mountains of GCSE coursework. (Teachers don't know how bad they make it for us by leaving it to the last moment - bastards.)
Miki's track on the rentals album is called 'The Cruise.' It's a duet with the Matt Sharp, the bloke from the Rentals.
Finally, I just remembered the site is two years old, so happy birthday me! I'd just like to point out never to start a website. You don't know what you're letting yourself in for!
- 7/2/99 - Sing-Sing play the Barfly Club at the Camden Falcon as part of an NME 'ON' night on Thursday 11th February. Support comes from the Younger Younger 28's (they've got a song on a Melody Maker new bands compilation this week) and Malluka.
- 26/1/99 - Miki makes an appearance on the new Rentals album 'Seven More Minutes' out on Maverick Records on April 13th. More news as it arrives. Thanks to Alex Vergara on Starlust for this news.
The Sing-Sing/Linoleum single is out now on CD and 7".
- 13/1/99 - The single has been put back to the 18th, (yes that's next Monday) although Steve Lamacq seems to reckon it's the 25th but I have official word it's the 18th and from various other sources so go and look for it then instead of waiting. Full details:

- 22/12/98 - The split single with Linoleum is apparently out on January 4th on Fierce Panda catalogue number Ning Ning 66. The song on the single is titled 'I Can See You.' John Peel also played the song on his show the other day but I didn't hear it, but never mind. Oh, and merry christmas everybody as I probably won't update the site again until after Christmas unless something really important crops up.
- 14/12/98 - Well Steve Lamacq played the new Linoleum single on lamacq live just now which was quite good but here is the important bit: It's being released as a split single on Fierce Panda records, with the new Sing-Sing song on it. (I haven't any idea of the release date,(or the title, come to think of it) does anyone know? It's probably sometime in the new year.)
- 23/11/98 - It's been quiet for a while but all you people living in France are now officially 'very lucky bastards' especially if you live in Paris. Apparently, Sing-Sing play at the Locomotive in Paris on December 17th. (Plucked from quite a good guestbook somewhere familiar to you lot - but not here.)
- 6/10/98 - Sing-Sing play their next gig in London at the Bull and gate in Kentish Town on Thursday October 15th. Cheers you know who:)
- 4/10/98 - Lush are featured on a 4ad compilation on Uncut magazine this month. (I've kind of forgotten about Lush for a while, what with all this Sing-Sing excitement,by the way, the single's out tomorrow!)
- 3/10/98 - The radio station I love to love (but can't listen to) are having Sing-Sing on again on the Laura Lee Davies show on Thursday October 8th. Guess who I got this news from:).
My counter's hit 10000 visitors in just over a year and a half - cheers!
- 26/9/98 - Sing-Sing play the Reading Alleycat on October 2nd. Now there are all these dates, I suppose I really should get round to making a tourdates section, keep your eyes peeled!
- 23/9/98 - Apparently, keyboardist Joely Tonner was replaced by Poppy Gonzalez, ex of Mojave 3, a long time ago. Thanks to the omnipresent MaK for all the info.
- 12/9/98 - Yay! Live news!
Sing-Sing will be playing at the The Water Rats in London's King Cross on October 5th, the single's day of release. They are also doing a radio session on September 29th on GLR Radio's 'Robert Elms Morning Show.' I guess that's a London only thing.
- 6/9/98 - 'Feels Like Summer has been put back to the 5th October for whatever reason there may be...
The 2 b-sides for the single will be 'Hit and Run' and 'Command.'
The single was produced by Mark Van Hoen from Locust (who Sing-Sing supported at the ULU,) oh, and it's CD only which should provide an excuse for anyone who STILL hasn't bought a CD player to go and buy one, now!
Finally, there is now an official Sing-Sing web site at Bella Union which is where I got most of this information from, obviously, (as well as the continually great unofficial Sing-Sing homepage, which, I must say, is actually better than the official one!)
- 5/8/98 - The Sing-Sing line-up as at the ULU on the 29th:
Emma Anderson: Guitar, backing vocals.
Lisa O'Neill: Vocals.
Joely Tonna: Keyboards.
Shifty: Bass.
Mig: Drums.
Thanks to the unofficial Sing-Sing site for these details. (Go to my links page then go there!)
- 24/7/98 - From this week's Melody Maker: Sing-Sing's debut single (they are now just a duo of Emma and Lisa O'Neil) is to be 'Feels Like Summer', released by the Cocteau Twin's Bella Union label on 28th September.(BELLACD8.) More tour dates are being arranged to coincide. It appears they now have a record contract, then! (Woo-hoo!)
Go toBella Union's homepage for more details.
- 19/7/98 - Typically, while i've been on holiday, there's been some Lush news. Emma's Sing-Sing are playing their first gig as support to Mojave 3 and Locust at London ULU on Wednesday, July 29th. Sing-Sing are still looking for a contract and their work is apparently more loop-based than with Lush. Read the full NME story at nme.com
- 20/6/98 - The Jesus and Mary Chain, featuring Phil as the bassist, are about to tour America, here are some dates for you: (Oh, and their new album is out, but I don't think it features Phil.)
USA:
July:
13th: Baltimore - Bohager's.
14th: Washington DC - 9:30 Club.
15th: New York - Irving Plaza - Intel festival.
There are also festival dates across the summer including Glastonbury on the 27th. Go herefor all your JAMC information because it's not really anything to do with Lush apart from Phil touring with them and as he's not on their records, I thought, you know..... (any other Phil news will still be reported though.) Finally, a JAMC London gig was broadcasted recently on BBC Radio 1 so Phil was on the radio again. (And if you go to the festival sites there are lots of live streams if you want to listen out....)
- 12/5/98 - Imagine my surprise, when turning my radio onto Radio 1's evening session just now, i heard the end of Lush's Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep cover. It had been played because of another band on the album, but, most importantly, because Steve had just found out about Emma's new band. Apparently they played at someone's party a few weeks ago! Anyone have any more info on any of this?
Miki and Emma also went again to see the Jesus and Mary Chain play in London the other week, hopefully seeing Phil (again.)
- 4/5/98 - A cover of the Lush track Thoughtforms by the band Heavenside appears on the double CD 'Splashed With Many A Speck' a kind of blisspop extravaganza type-thing on Dewdrops records. Read all about it here.
- 18/4/98 - Justin Welch of Elastica has been assisting Emma with her Sing-Sing demos. (About the only person in Elastica doing anything at the moment if the rumours going around are anything to go by....)
- 9/4/98- Miki will make her first onstage appearance for nearly a year and a half at a Flaming Lip's experimental gig at London's Kentish Town Forum on May 16th. The gig is called 'Zaireeka,' and will involve up to 40 celebrities participating armed with ghettoblasters playing Flaming Lip's pre-arranged and pre-recorded cassettes, to be played simultaneously and conducted by the Flaming Lip's. Could Miki be becoming prog rock?
Phil's previous band, Felt, get the column space in this week's 'Gone' in the NME. It's worth seeing if only for Phil's haircut......
- 1/4/98-The ex-members of Lush are now back in the music rag gossip columns with a vengeance(well, Public NME anyway.) Emma (Sing-Sing not Lush) and Miki (not Lush) were spotted at the Jesus and Mary Chain's King's Cross Water Rat's gig last month, presumably to watch Phil play bass for them(?). Additionally, in their review of the very same show Phil was described as, horror of all horrors, a 'Lushbloke'! (At least the music paper's can't break up Lush as they've practically succeeded at doing with Sleeper, although with Sleeper at least it's a good idea.) Additionally last week Emma was also one of the invited guests at Pulp's excellent new album, "This is Hardcore"'s launch party at the plush window on the world bar at the London Hilton.
