News
18/10/01 - Hello. I'm back. Don't ever hold me to my promises!
Big news is that there is a new Lush compilation out now on 4AD, called 'Ciao!'. It's really very good (but why no Last Night, that's what I want to know!) so go and buy it. There have also been several Sing-Sing releases culminating in an album which came out a couple of weeks ago. (On Poptones, Alan McGee's new label). This is also, needless to say, very good. (And Emma signed the guestbook and I didn't notice until today...go and visit her official site (see links) now!)
Oh, and one further bit of news. In addition to retiring from music and getting a day job, Miki has had a baby girl! According to 'the Stork' who posted this on the guestbook, 'mother and baby are doing well'. Congratulations!
21/12/99 - There really hasn't been much happening at all recently, but recently this was posted on the Unofficial Sing-Sing website's guestbook (complete with spelling mistakes):
'hello to you lovely people reading this site, a message from the band... our album is finished and is called 'siamese'.We're putting it out thru pinacle probably in feb/march 00, on our own label 'aerial' . we'll have a single out just before called 'i'll be' which is written by Emma, myself with a lyrical contribution from a fantastic scottish poet called Mike Benson. It really is a great tune i know you won't be disappointed, so we hope it'll ge much radio play and press support. the album is excellent if i do say so myself, ecclectic and quite english in it's sound, we've got beautifull guitars and harmonys, zithers, strings, lots of synth, big bass - its a very sexy album i'll be darned. it shouldnt be too hard to get hold of ether, we'll keep you posted ...'
So now you know. By the way, the site will actually be updated quite a lot now after a fairly dramatic layoff. Merry Christmas!
3/9/99 - There hasn't been too much going on recently to be honest, but the latest Sing-Sing news is that they are in Nomis Studios with producer Mark Van Hoen finishing off the album with a single due to be released before the end of the year and the album due out either in February or March...
Another new Lush track is due to be released soon in the form of a My Bloody Valentine remix of Sweetness And Light on the soundtrack to new film 'Splendor'(directed by Greg Araki, who seems to have put a lot of Lush on his soundtracks) on the Astralwerks label. The soundtrack is released on September 14th and the film is released in New York on September 17th and in selected cities in the USA from September 24th.
15/4/99 - From Allstar news, via Lysa's Lush Page:
Wonder what bands do when they break up if they're not recording solo albums or in drug rehab? Well, for Lush's Miki Berenyi, she's contemplating a civilian life. The Rentals' Matt Sharp spent some time with Ms. Berenyi while making his new record, Seven More Minutes, due April 13 on Maverick, which features Berenyi on the track, "The Cruise," and he says, "She's thinking of getting a job. She's great and she just wants to work in her garden, I think. I can understand that. There's times in life when I just want to work in my garden."...
The Rentals album came out two days ago, by the way. The Cruise sounds promising...
