Part one

Diana Hanson gently placed the cat's well-worn collar and nametag on the table. Her heart broke as she watched tears well up in her son's questioning blue eyes.
"I'm sorry honey." Diana said softly.
A tear of shattered hope crawled down his pink cheek, and Diana pulled her son into a hug, wishing there were something she could do to ease his pain. That cat, named Pussy, had been his pet since birth, his lifelong companion, and its death would not be accepted easily.
"God will take care of her now." Diana whispered softly.

She let her teenage son go, and he wiped the tears from his face carelessly. He glanced painfully at the collar once more, and felt a tearing need to get away from all human contact and allow himself to wallow in his own heartbroken solitude.
"I'm going for a walk." He mumbled.
"Ok." His mother replied softly, and watched him swiftly exit the room.
Diana sighed, and ran her hand through her hair sadly. Walker, her husband, entered the room, catching her gazing reflectively at Pussy's collar.
"What's happening?" Walker asked softly, kissing his wife's blond head comfortingly.
"I just told Taylor." Diana sighed.
Walker sat down beside her.
"How'd he take it?"
"Oh, he's upset. But that can only be expected. He's gone for a walk."
"Poor kid." Walker murmured.
"Yeah, and on the second day of his holidays too." Diana said sadly.
"Life isn't fair sometimes." Walker said, gazing out the window at the blue sky and fluffy white clouds.

Taylor made a beeline for the comforting safety of the tree house. The weather was clear, and he hated it for that. He wanted thick black clouds and cold sleeting rain to suit his emotions. The bright happy sun was too much of a contrast, and it was only making his feelings of depression even more rebellious and overpowering.
He climbed up to the landing of the tree house. The wood was getting quite rotten in some spots, but every plank held a million memories of his childhood. Taylor sat with his back to the tree truck, and curled up into a ball. He dropped his forehead to his knees, and sobbed dejectedly for a few more minutes. Tears were something he didn't encounter often, and he licked his lips at their strong salty taste. Wiping his eyes on his sleeves, Taylor took a deep breath, and tried to coax himself away from his misery. The holidays had just began. Christmas was the happiest time of the year, or so it was supposed to be. He turned on his back and gazed through the tree branches at the clouds, watching them drift and dance so gently in the Oklahoman sky.

The crackle of dead leaves and the murmuring of voices interrupted Taylor's blankly depressed thoughts. He rolled over and peered over the edge of the tree house to see Isaac and Zac, two of his brothers, struggling over the leaves and sticks on their rollerblades. They looked up and saw Taylor gazing at them. Both brothers saw instantly that he had been crying.
"Hey." Isaac said softly, and offered a gentle smile.
"We're going down to the milk bar. Wanna come?" Zac asked hopefully.
Taylor sighed. There was nothing better to do. Plus, his brothers may be able to cheer him up. So he ran inside, pulled on his blades, and struggled over the uneven ground after them.

Taylor was to be disappointed. Isaac and Zac were also shocked at the sudden death of Taylor's cat, and were both mourning the loss in their own individual ways. No one said much as they rollerbladed swiftly down the gently sloping back streets of Tulsa. It was Sunday morning, and there weren't many people around, thankfully. Taylor didn't think he could bring himself to put on a happy face for some adoring fans right now. Isaac, Taylor, and Zac were the members of the band 'Hanson'. They had made their debut almost two years ago now, with a song named 'Mmmbop'. Their career never slowed from there, and the past two years had been the best of their lives. But with the fame comes the hysteria. And being the sweet natured, good-looking boys that they were, the Hanson's had hit the target dead centre. It was impossible for the Hanson's to go anywhere without being noticed. When 'Hanson' first hit the charts, Taylor was 14, Zac was 11, and Isaac was 16. Now, Zac was 13, Isaac was 18, and Taylor was turning sweet 16 in March next year. Taylor and Zac had never had girlfriends, but Isaac had had a girlfriend last holidays, with whom he had now lost touch. Now that he looked back, Isaac could see that he didn't really mean anything to her.

They arrived at the milk bar, and Taylor sat down heavily on the bench outside, rotating his ankle gingerly. He had tripped over one of Mack's toys yesterday, and fallen rather awkwardly. A 'perfect' start to his holidays. There were four other children in the Hanson family to share the house with, named Jessica, Avery, Mackenzie, and Zoe.
"Ankle ok?" Isaac asked.
"Yeah, just a bit sore. I think I'll just sit here." Taylor answered softly, and sniffed.
"Ok."
Isaac and Zac went cautiously into the shop, carefully lifting their blades over the step that had caused so many accidents in the past. Taylor sighed, and scraped at the mud on his rollerblade downheartedly. This was turning out to be the worst Christmas in a long time.

"I,I was standing
You were there
Two worlds collided
And they could never tear us apart"
Coralee hummed cheerfully to herself, something she always did when she was happy. It was a nice day in Tulsa, which was a pleasant change from the overcast clouds and icy winds they'd been having recently. Sunshine always lifted Coralee's spirits. She jingled the money in her hand. Five precious dollars to spend at the milk bar. 'No restrictions' was her philosophy on money, and therefore she never had much to spend. This money was a rare treat from her mom.

Coralee turned the corner and glanced over at the milk bar, which was about 100m away. She could just make out someone with long blond hair and rollerblades sitting on the bench outside. As she got a little closer, she realised it was a guy, and nodded in appreciation. Long blond haired male? He'd just have to be good looking, wouldn't he? Coralee had never had a boyfriend, and she wasn't sure if she even wanted one. Most guys she'd met at parties and stuff were perverted pricks. But that didn't mean she couldn't gaze hopefully at all the good-looking guys in the neighbourhood, did it? Coralee didn't look over again until she was only about 30m away, and what she saw stopped her dead in her tracks. Right there before her disbelieving eyes sat Jordan Taylor Hanson.

Coralee's first reaction was complete and utter uncontrollable excitement. Hanson was one of her many favourite bands and she had always wondered if she would run into them one day, since she lived in their hometown. She just never expected to meet them outside the milk bar she had been going to her entire life. Taking a deep breath, she thought back to all the times she had planned so carefully what to say in this situation. It all seemed so far away now. Well, 'don't scream' was probably the most obvious point. Coralee sniggered. Only an absolute idiot would scream, but then again, there were a lot of idiots. She suddenly remembered a very important phrase. Maybe it was even a quote from Hanson themselves. Something about how 'you don't really know famous people at all. You just know a whole lot of posters and interviews and sounds. The actual people are something else.'
Coralee sighed. It was so true. She didn't know that boy sitting over there at all. She only knew him as a stereotype, as a figment of her imagination. She knew him no better then he knew her.
"I'll just have to start over then." Coralee whispered to herself.
Suddenly, what she had to do was clear. Coralee took a deep breath, and began walking confidently towards one of the most famous people in Tulsa, Taylor Hanson.

Taylor heard footsteps in the quiet street, and glanced up from his daydream. A girl was heading straight towards him, and she was about his age. He looked away quickly.
Here comes the scream squad. Taylor thought to himself, and sighed. Well, it was only to be expected. She got nearer, and Taylor looked up at her. Coralee offered a smile as they made eye contact, and Taylor managed to smile back. He knew he was probably about to make yet another teenage girl's dream come true, and he didn't intend to disappoint anyone. Even though, he still felt so sensitive that he could burst into tears at any moment, and the effort to appear cheerful was a painful one.
"Hey." He said to her, as she reached him.
"Hello." Coralee said politely, and sat down casually next to him on the bench. What would I say if I had never met this person before…wait…I haven't met this person before. Coralee smiled.
"What's your name?" She asked.
Taylor looked up from his rollerblade in surprise, and gazed questioningly into her eyes. His name? A teenage girl hadn't asked him that since…he couldn't even remember.
"Taylor." He said softly, and smiled. "What's yours?"
"Coralee." She answered.
Taylor had never heard that name before, and he liked it. Coralee was a little stunned. Taylor was so good-looking. In fact, he was the best-looking guy she had ever met in her entire life. Taylor glanced up into Coralee's eyes again. There was something strange about her eyes. One seemed iridescent green, and one seemed…purple. But he was sure he was seeing things.
"So, Coralee, what are you doing here on a Sunday morning?" He asked.
Coralee lent back on the bench and shrugged.
"Oh, nothing much. I'm actually going to spend this money in there." She showed him the coins in her hand and indicated to the milk bar behind her. She was surprised at how relaxed and casual she was being around him. It was almost instinctive. Coralee realised that getting to know Taylor from scratch is the best thing she could possible have done, because it was the right thing to do. She had never met this person, so, by putting herself in the right frame of mind, she allowed her natural instincts to lead, and actually began to talk to him as a normal person, not a superstar.
Taylor nodded, and glanced into her eyes again. Now he was sure they were green and purple.
"You're eyes are…um…cool!!" He exclaimed, smiling curiously.
Coralee remembered with a shock the colour of contact lenses she had put in that morning. She used to wear glasses, but ever since she had discovered the world of contacts, she was obsessed with the things. She always wore strange colour combinations on holidays and weekends, since they had banned her from wearing her crazy ones at school.
Coralee laughed.
"Oh, whoops. I forgot about them!! They're contact lenses."
Taylor raised his eyebrows.
"Oh really? They're really cool!!"
"Thanks!!" Coralee smiled. Maybe the strange coloured contacts were a good idea after all.
Taylor looked back down at his ankle and frowned. Coralee gazed at him curiously. He looked so sad when he put that face on. She wished she could see what he was thinking.
"Well, um, I'm going to stock up on my sugar supply now." Coralee said, standing, "Do you want anything?"
"Oh, no thanks. My brothers are in there buying me stuff." Taylor smiled.
"Oh really? Cool."
Coralee felt another surge of excitement. Isaac and Zac were here too?
"Why are you out here then?" She asked curiously.
"I kind of hurt my ankle." He said wistfully, grinning.
"How?"
"Oh, I just sprained it falling over one of Mackie's toys. He's my little brother. It's not that bad, it's just hurting a bit now. I guess it was kind of dumb of me to go rollerblading with a busted ankle." Taylor smiled.
Coralee shrugged.
"Nah, don't say that. I'd probably do it too."
Taylor smiled, and searched her odd eyes once more, trying to see if she was sincere or not. So many girls were such complete suck ups. They act like your best friend, even though they had to lie through their teeth to do so. It was so hard to tell if someone was truly sincere or not.

"Hey Ike, look." Zac said, pointing.
Isaac followed Zac's gaze out the window, and saw a girl sitting next to Taylor. Isaac smiled.
"He just can't escape them, can he?"
Zac giggled.
"Nah."
Isaac glanced back at the girl. She was now heading towards the door of the milk bar.
"Zac, she's coming."
Zac didn't hear him. He was too engrossed in the array of lollies spread out before him. Coralee opened the door to the milk bar, and glanced up straight into Isaac Hanson's chocolate eyes. Coralee smiled.
"Uh, hi!! I'm Isaac." Isaac smiled, and shook her hand.
"Hi. I'm Coralee." She said.
"And Zac's over there." Isaac said, waving in his brother's direction.
Coralee looked behind Isaac to see Zac Hanson digging around in a box of lollies.
"Hi Zac." She called.
Zac looked up in surprise, and grinned as he saw the girl.
"Oh, hello!! What's your name?"
"Coralee."
"Hi Coralee!!"
She smiled.
"Hi."
Isaac watched Coralee as she talked to Zac over his shoulder. She was kind of average, but had so many colourful features, that it spiced her overall appearance, making it impossible not to notice her. Her hair was long and brown, and curly at the ends. She had dyed long blond streaks through it. Isaac too was fascinated by Coralee's supernatural eye colour, and he couldn't help but gaze into them. There was a bright red diamond sticker stuck on her forehead between her eye brows, and her eye lashes were coloured a bright iridescent blue. This was definitely the most interesting girl they had met in a long time.
Suddenly, Zac slipped a little on his rollerblades, and grabbed a box of Mars Bars, which spilled all over the floor. Isaac, Coralee, and Zac stared at the bars on the floor in surprise for a second, silent.
"Hee hee hee ha ha ha ha!!!" Zac suddenly exploded loudly, laughing like a madman. Zac's laugh was incredibly infectious, and Coralee and Isaac were soon giggling along with him.
The milk bar owner shook his head in amusement.
"Just pick them up, Zac." He sighed.
Coralee glanced at the shopkeeper in surprise. He seemed to know Hanson so well, it arose all sorts of new possibilities. Did Hanson come here often? Did Hanson live near here?
"So Coralee. You finally ran into the Hanson's, huh?" The shopkeeper said, winking at her.
"Uh…yeah!!" She said, smiling in wonder.
Zac glanced at Isaac, who raised his eyebrows. So Coralee comes here often, does she?
After Zac had cleaned up, they bought their supplies from the friendly shopkeeper at the counter. Zac ironically bought two of the mars bars he had dropped, and Isaac kindly bought Coralee a lollypop, since she had spent her other money on other things. They trooped back outside to where a very dreamy, dispirited looking Taylor was sitting. Coralee caught his sad, faraway expression before he noticed they were there, and wondered once more what was going through his mind.
"Tay, want a lolly?" Zac asked, dangling a red jube in front of his eyes.
Taylor sighed, and took it.
"Thanks."
Taylor suddenly realised that Coralee was still there, and smiled at her.
"Hello again." He said.
"Hi." Coralee smiled.
She sighed, knowing that Hanson probably wanted to get home, and they couldn't have her tagging along. The Hanson home address was top secret. So, Coralee tried to bring herself to do one of the hardest things she'd ever done.
"Um, I'd better be going home now." She said wistfully.
Taylor frowned. This was the first time for over a year that a girl was voluntarily leaving their sides.
"Oh, ok. It was nice meeting you." Isaac said, and held out his hand.
Coralee smiled, and shook it.
"You too."
"See you around, maybe." Zac said, grinning and shook her hand violently.
"Yeah, that'd be cool." She giggled.
Taylor then stood, and held out his hand, smiling.
"Cool eyes." He said, and winked at her.
"Thanks!!" She smiled.
"Bye!!" Zac yelled, as she turned away.
Coralee turned around and waved. She took one last look at Hanson before turning away for the last time.
"She was cool." Taylor said.
"Yeah. You know, she didn't even ask for our autographs." Isaac said, shaking his head in amusement.
"Weird man, weird!!" Zac said, grinning.
"How cool were her eyes?" Taylor exclaimed.
"Yeah, what was that? Were they contact lenses?" Isaac asked.
"Yeah contact lenses."
"Maybe they were her real eyes, but she had to cover it up because it's so weird." Zac exclaimed, pulling his eyes wide with his fingers.
Taylor smiled.
"I don't think so Zac." Taylor glanced up at the sun, which was starting to set. He sighed. "Let's go."
Taylor skated off without waiting for a response. Isaac shrugged at Zac, and followed after him.

As soon as Coralee rounded the corner, she turned and spied around the fence at Hanson. She was just in time to see them skating off in the opposite direction, with Taylor in the lead limping slightly on one foot. It did cross her mind to follow them home, but she resisted. There was absolutely no way Coralee was going to fall to that level.
"I will never forget today for the rest of my life." She whispered to herself. Coralee believed deep in her heart that she would never see them again. She didn't even have their autographs to prove she had met them. She twirled the lollypop in her fingers. No one would believe her. Coralee shook her head sorrowfully, and turned towards home. The sun was making the fluffy clouds turn gold and pink and purple. She hoped that Hanson found them as beautiful as she did.

"MUM!!! DAD!!! I JUST MET HANSON!!!" Coralee yelled hysterically as she threw open the door.
"Oh, you didn't." Coralee's little brother, Lleyton, groaned spitefully. Lleyton was ten years old, and hated Hanson with a passion.
"Oh shut up." Coralee spat, and pushed past her brother. "MUM? DID YOU HEAR WHAT I SAID?"
"Shut up Coral." Lleyton sighed. "No one cares."
At that moment Coralee's mother, Marissa, appeared at the top of the staircase.
"You met Hanson?" She asked.
"Yeah!!!" Coralee yelled.
"Oh wow honey, that's fantastic. Where'd you meet them?"
"Oh you wouldn't believe it. At the milk bar!! You know, the one that's like 10 minutes walk from here!!"
"Oh my gosh!! That's incredible!! What were they like?"
Lleyton rolled his eyes and left the room. Coralee smiled. Her mum was a bit of a Hanson fan.
"Zac was really funny, he knocked over some stuff in the shop. Isaac was nice. And Taylor was…well…VERY good looking!! And he had a sore ankle"
Marissa chuckled, and shook her head.
"Did you get their autographs?"
Coralee sighed, and her face fell.
"Well, no. I forgot to ask." She rested her chin on the banister. "No ones going to believe me now."
"Well maybe you'll meet them again."
"Oh, do you think?" Coralee asked hopefully.
"Sure!! Anything's possible, isn't it?"
"Yeah I s'pose."
Marissa smiled, and disappeared once more around the corner, leaving her 15-year-old daughter to dream. Coralee sighed. Anything's possible.

"Hey mum." Isaac said, as he went into the kitchen for a snack. Diana was in the middle of feeding her bouncy baby girl, Zoe. Zoe was turning one in January next year.
"Oh you're back!!" Diana said, and then lowered her voice. "Did you take Tay with you?"
"Yeah."
"How's he doing?"
Isaac sighed.
"Oh, he's really quiet. But we met a fan, and I think that cheered him up a bit. Made him smile anyway." Isaac walked over and kissed his little sister on the head. Zoe smiled.
"Oh yeah. Was she pretty." Diana asked slyly.
Isaac glanced at his mother in disbelief.
"Mum!!" He groaned.
"Sorry." She chuckled. "But, you know, it is the very start of the holidays you know. And we're going to be home for a while. If you ever wanted to…"
"Mum, believe me, we know." Isaac smiled, rolling his eyes.
With that, Isaac left the room, leaving Diana chuckling to herself.

Taylor retreated to his room after their evening meal. Diana saw what Isaac said about Taylor being quiet. His usual colourful bubbly nature had been missed at the dinner table that night. When the rest of her family were involved in a favourite TV program, she went in search of her son.
Taylor looked up from as the door opened.
"Hi honey, how are you?" Diana said softly.
"Ok." He said softly. Diana sat down on the bed beside him.
"Where'd you go with Ike and Zac today?"
"To the milk bar."
"Oh yeah."
There was a moment of silence. But not an uncomfortable silence. Just the silence between two people who knew each other so well that they didn't need to talk all the time.
"We met a cool fan." Taylor said finally.
"Oh really?"
"She had blond streaked hair and a red sticker on her forehead and blue eyelashes, and one of her eyes was purple and the other was green."
Diana chuckled.
"Oh my gosh!!"
"She was cool though. Didn't scream or anything, you know."
"Oh yeah." Diana got up again. "Tay, you sure you don't want to come watch TV?"
Taylor glanced up at his mother, and sighed.
"Ok."
Diana smiled as her son followed her into the living room.

"Isaac, Taylor, and Zac,
Hey, how are you going? This is Coralee. You know, from the milk bar. I'm just on the Internet, and thought I'd drop you a line.
Zac: Hope you enjoy the mars bars, heh heh!!
Isaac: Thanks for the lollypop. I'm eating it now, and it's yum!!
Taylor: Hope your ankle feels better.
Anyway, looks like we both go to that milk bar, so I'll probably see you around some day. Just thought I'd say hi!!
See ya,
Luv Coralee"
Coralee pressed 'send', and her message was sent to the Hanson fan mail E-mail. She knew Hanson had thousands of messages sent everyday, but she also knew that they did read some of their E-mail. Maybe if they saw her name on the title they'd remember who she was, and read it. Anyway, it was worth a try. Coralee sighed, and left her E-mail site to surf the net.

"...and you are the master's of the Universe. Love you and your music forever and ever and ever. You totally rock. Just thought I'd let you know. Please come to Seattle again real soon, ok?
Love you all heaps,
Michelle JJ"
Zac smiled. There was nothing like reading fan E-mails to cheer you up. Zac scrolled down the endless list of E-mails, opening random files. It was impossible to view them all.
"Dear Zac,
I love you I love you I love you I love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are the best-looking, funniest, most talented guy in the whole world. I went to your Toronto concert, and it was sooooooo cool!! Make sure you keep making music, and if you ever have any free backstage passes or anything, please consider me!!! I would just LOVE to meet you and Ike and Tay.
See you soon, hopefully!!
Merry Christmas!!
From Simone **hugs and kisses**"
"Hmm!!" Zac approved contentedly, and scrolled further down the list. Suddenly a name caught his eye.
"Coralee Carter." Zac murmured, and clicked on the link.
Zac smiled proudly.
"IKE?!! TAYLOR?!! I THINK YOU SHOULD SEE THIS!!!"
Isaac soon entered the room followed by Taylor.
"Oh my gosh!!" Taylor murmured as he read the message. "What do you know?"
"Let's write back." Isaac said, pulling up a chair by Zac.
"Yeah, let's give her our E-mail!!"
Zac began to type.
"Coralee,
Hey, this is Zac!! Thanks for your E-mail!!! Just a question, what colour eyes will you have tomorrow? Ok, anyway, yes, the mars bars did taste good!! And Tay's ankle is still a bit stuffed. Ok, now Taylor wants to type.
Ok, hi Coralee. Thought that since we've met you, and probably will again, that you can have our E-mail. This is a special one, so please don't tell anyone ok? It is marshmallow_44@hotmail.com So if you write something here, we will probably get it. Ok, here's Ike.
Hey Coralee!! How are you going? Glad you enjoyed the lollypop!! Yeah, hopefully we'll see you around. Bye for now!!
Ike, Tay, and Zac.
Isaac pressed send, and the boys glanced at each other in satisfaction. They all liked Coralee's nature, and it was a pleasant surprise to learn they hadn't completely lost contact with her.
"You know the coolest thing about Coralee?" Taylor said, and continued before they could answer. "She came up to me, and the first thing she said was 'What's your name?' I haven't been asked that in ages."
"Yeah, she treated us like…" Zac began
"…she didn't know who we were." Isaac finished.
"Yeah." Zac and Taylor both said.
The three Hanson's did that a lot. They spent so much time together that they said and thought the same things at the same times. It got spooky sometimes.
"It'd be cool to meet her again." Taylor said.
"Hmm. It would." Isaac said thoughtfully.

"Goodnight Tay, goodnight Zac!!" Isaac said as he turned off the light for the night.
"Night Ike, night Tay." Zac yawned.
"Goodnight guys." Taylor sighed.
Then all was silent. Taylor squirmed uncomfortably in his bed. This was the first night he had to sleep without his cat curled up by his feet. Taylor glanced down to where she should be lying, and where there was a dark formidable empty space. Taylor buried his head in his pillow, and allowed only one sorrowful tear to escape his eyes before he drifted off into sleep. It had been an emotionally draining day, and he wanted tomorrow to start as soon as possible.

Coralee lay awake thinking about Hanson that night.
"I...I was standing
You were there
Two worlds collided"
She sang softly to herself. 'Two worlds collided'. Coralee could still see Taylor's questioning face as she asked him his name. He was so incredibly good-looking. Coralee ached to get to know him more. She wanted to get to know all the Hansons more, but Taylor was different. Maybe it was the fact that Isaac was an extrovert, Zac was a big extrovert, and Taylor was like Coralee. A major introvert hidden by confidence.

Coralee's unique face was unmistakable, and she smiled sweetly at him before turning the corner and out of sight. Taylor ran after her, feeling desperate to stop her from leaving. He caught up with her, and touched her arm gently. She turned, and smiled. Taylor then found himself sitting on the ground beside Coralee, watching TV. He turned, and felt a need to kiss her. But she was too far away, so he scooted closer. He lent in, and she turned her head, and kissed him softly on the lips. Taylor gazed into her eyes in awe, and Coralee was smiling at him. He frowned, her eyes were fluoro pink.
In an instant, the visions and distorted versions of reality in Taylor's mind dissipated into nothingness, and he woke up from his sleep. The memory of the dream was vivid in his mind.
"Woah. What was that?" Taylor breathed, licking his lips.
"Huh?" Isaac mumbled.
"I just had a dream…a dream, yeah." Taylor frowned, trying to remember all the details.
"A dream is a wish your heart desires." Isaac yawned.
Taylor frowned, and shook his head in confusion.
"Ike? Do you think that saying is true?"
"Depends. It can be."
"Oh my gosh." Taylor groaned to himself, pulling at his hair. What on earth was going on? He had only met Coralee once.
"No, it was just a dream. Dreams are supposed crazy." Taylor told himself softly.
"What are you going on about Taylor?" Zac asked.
"Nothing. Forget it."
