Biography: Paul McCartney



James Paul McCartney was born on June 18, 1942 in Liverpool, England. His parents were Mary and James McCartney. When Paul was 14, his mother died of breast cancer.
Paul attended the Liverpool Institute, where he met George Harrison. Paul was invited to see a group called The Quarrymen play. There, he met John. Not long after meeting Paul, John asked him to join the group. Paul said yes.

He met Jane Asher at a concert and after spending an evening with her, realized she was the girl for him. Paul proposed to Jane in 1967 and she accepted.
In 1968, Paul met Linda Eastman. He broke off his relationship with Jane Asher and, in March of '69, married Linda. They had three children, Mary, Stella, and James. Paul joined a new band, Wings.
On April 17, 1998, Linda McCartney died of cancer.
