*That Night*
Christy was still sitting with AJ. She started to realize that she hadn’t seen much of Brian and was beginning to feel guilty. She was about to get up to go visit him when AJ slightly squeezed her hand. She was startled at first and then almost screamed in excitement.
“AJ come on I know you’re coming around. Wake up.” She pleaded. Kirsten walked in the room and saw the smile on Christy’s face.
“Wow I haven’t seen a smile on your face in the longest time.” She said.
“Kirsten, he squeezed my hand and now he’s actually holding it. Oh my god.”
He let out a soft groan and shifted slightly.
“Thank goodness! It’s about time!” Kirsten said happily.
Christy put her hand on his cheek and quickly removed it when he opened his eyes. Christy started crying only this time it was from happiness.
“Welcome back” Kirsten said. “You gave us quite a scare.” She turned back to Christy and said, “I’ll go tell the others.”
“Oh my head.” AJ groaned rubbing his head with his free hand.
Christy let go of his hand and got up and gave him a hug. She was so happy to see his eyes open.
“I love you.” She whispered.
“I love you too.” He said back. She pulled back and sat down again and then took back his hand.
“How long have I been out?”
“A week. Well I kept our bet. Only I stayed by your side a little longer than our bargain.”
AJ smiled weakly. “Well that’s good to know. I’m so tired and I ache all over.”
“Try not to talk anymore. It’s sucking up all your energy.”
Amy, Kirsten, Nick, Howie, Denise, Jackie, Harold, and Kevin all walked in the room. They didn’t care about the two-person rule. They wanted to see AJ actually awake.
“AJ you’re so lazy. If you wanted a break you could have just said so.” Nick joked.
“Sorry Nick I’ll be sure to let you know next time.” AJ replied.
“Well it looks like someone is finally going to get some sleep.” Kevin said pointing to Christy. Her head was on the edge of AJ’s bed and was asleep.
“She’s so excited to see me huh?” he joked.
“Man she hardly go any sleep at all. She refused to go home.” Nick said.
“So what happened?” AJ asked.
They spent a few minutes explaining what happene. Then Dr. Stevenson came in and pushed everyone out but Christy who was still sleeping because AJ insisted that she stay.
~Chapter 14~
*The Next Day*
Everyone’s hope for Brian’s recovery grew. AJ was getting stronger by the minute. They had finally told him about Brian and he insisted that he see him. He couldn’t of course because he was still too weak. While all of this went on Christy was still sleeping. Howie was sitting there with him talking to him.
“How’s Brian?” AJ asked very concerned for his friend.
“He’s getting a little better. We’re hoping he’ll wake up soon. The doctor didn’t even think he would hang on through the night but he did and it’s been more than a week. I really think he’ll make it.” Howie replied.
Christy’s head shot up and she looked around.
“Well hello.” Howie said. “We didn’t think you’d wake up for a couple more hours. Or weeks even.”
“How long was I sleeping?” she asked.
“About twelve hours.” AJ answered.
“I’m sorry.” She looked at AJ. “What a greeting I had for you huh?”
“It’s no problem. You look cute when you sleep.”
“They’re going to be moving him out of ICU today.” Howie said.
“OH that’s great.” She replied.
“Any word on…” she stopping in mid sentence. She wasn’t sure if AJ know about Brian yet.
“No nothing on Brian yet.” Howie replied. She figured AJ knew.
“Well if you don’t mind I’d like to go see him. I haven’t seen him in awhile.” She gave AJ a kiss and left for Brian’s room.
She head more than two voiced in the room. She peaked inside see that Brian was awake. Her eyes welled up in tears relieved to see that he too was ok. She slowly walked in the room, joining Jackie, Harold, and Brian.
“Hey.” He said faintly and drifted off to sleep.
“How long has he..” Christy asked.
“Just a few minutes, enough for the doctor to see him, and for us to talk to him. He’s been drifting in and out.” Jackie answered. She walked to Christy and gave her a hug.
“I’m so happy the boys are going to be ok.” Jackie said while still hugging Christy.
“So am I. I don’t know what I would do with out them.”
~Chapter 15~
*The Next Day*
“Are you sure this is such a good idea?” Amy asked Christy as they walked to the main entrance.
“Yes it’ll be fine.” She assured.
The girls walked out the doors to see a swarm of young girls. They went up to a group of girls who had things they wanted to give to the guys.
“Hi.” Amy said to the girls.
“We came down here to collect some of the things that you guys out here wanted to give to Brian and AJ. We promise they’ll get them.” Christy said.
“Thanks!” said a short blond girl who looked to be about fourteen.
“You’re AJ’s girlfriend.” Another girl said to Christy. “And you’re Kevin’s” she said looking at Amy.
“Yes we are.” Amy said.
“You’re such cute couples….Are they ok?” The girl’s face was full of concern.
“Yes. They’re both going to be fine.” Christy answered.
Amy and Christy thanked the girls and walked back in the building with their hands full of flowers and other get-well gifts for both the guys.

“Look we have something to make you feel better.” Amy said as she and Christy walked in AJ’s room.
“We went outside and collected some things from some fans.” Said Christy. She handed him a handful of cards and some stuffed animals. Amy set the flowers down next to his bed.
“Wow. This is great. Thank you.” AJ said. Nick was also in the room. He was playing with the talked Eeyore someone had given AJ.
“We’re going to give the rest of this stuff to Brian. We’ll see you later.” Amy said.
On their way to Brian’s room they noticed two people making out in the waiting room.
“Look at that.” Amy said.
“Nice.” Was all Christy had to say. Then she walked inside. “Ok you guys this is a hospital. There’s no having fun in a hospital.”
Amy started to laugh. Kirsten and Howie broke apart and looked at her. Amy and Christy left before they said anything.
They finally made it to the opposite end of the hospital, and down one floor. Brian had been moved out of ICU after AJ, but he was moved far away from AJ’s room.
“Hey Steve.” Amy said as they walked into Brian’s room. Steve was one of the many bodyguards the boys had.
“Hello ladies.” He replied.
“Well look who’s awake.” Amy said happily, seeing Brian watching TV.
“Hey guys.” He said.
“We took the liberty of going out front and getting some gifts from some of the fans.” Said Christy.
“If we had something to carry all of it in you would have had about ten basketball.” Amy commented.
“Wow. How many people are out there?” he asked.
“Only about fifty now. They are starting to clear them out.” Christy answered.
“So how are you feeling?” Amy asked while trying to find place to set all to gifts down.
“I’m feeling better. Still tired but I’m getting better.” He answered.
“That’s great Bri. You don’t know how much you and AJ scared us all. You know Chris, I haven’t seen you happy in so long it’s really nice to see.” Amy said.
“It’s really nice to be happy and actually be able to think straight. Last night I actually went home and slept. It was so nice.”
“Brian you should have seen her. She refused to go home. Last night was the first time she went home to sleep. Other times she only went home to change and shower. She looked terrible.”
“Well it just shows how much she cares.” Brian said. He started to nod off again and soon was out.
~Chapter 16~
*The Next Day*
AJ was finally ready to go home. He was so happy, and was so sick of lying in that bed. The downside of going home was that he had to take it easy for a few days. Christy signed the release papers and she pushed AJ’s wheelchair (he had to be in it because it was regulation that you get pushed to the car) to Brian’s room before he went home. They two guys we so happy to see each other. They visited for about an hour, then Christy and AJ left for AJ’s house. AJ’s mom was at his house when they got there. She went early to make sure he had food in the fridge.
“Hey mom.: AJ said as he slowly made his way into the living room, on his crutches.
“Hi how are you feeling?” she asked helping him to the couch.
“A little tired but I’m managing.” He answered.
He slowly sat down, wincing in pain, while putting his hand to his ribs.
“Well if you’re all right I’m going to go and see Brian. I haven’t talked to him since he woke up.” Denise said. “Are you going to be ok?”
“Yes mom I’m a big boy.. And I have a wonderful woman here with me to keep me company.” AJ assured her.
“No I’m going to see Brian.” Denise said.
“Hey!” Christy said. Denise laughed.
“I’m just kidding. I’ll see you two later.” She gave AJ a kiss on the cheek and gave Christy a hug and left.
“So what do you want to do today? Shoot some hoops? Sky dive?” AJ joked.
“You already did you part in sky diving.” Christy said with no emotion.
She sat down next to him and rested her head against his shoulder, and he put his arm around her.
“I’m happy just sitting here next to you.” She said. “And being able to talk to you and you being able to respond.”
“I love you. I love you more every day.” He said looking into her eyes.
“I love you too. I don’t know what I would do without you.” He pulled her closer and kissed her. That was the first time in more than a week that they actually had a real kiss, and they enjoyed every second of it. Or should I say minute?
“Oh my god what about that gig you had?” he asked when they finally pulled apart.
“We didn’t go.” She answered simply.
“I can’t believe you didn’t go. It wasn’t like I was going to die or anything.”
Christy looked away when he said that.
“Answer me this. What would you do if you were in my position? Boyfriend in a coma, performing for a scout. Boyfriend in a coma, performing for a scour.” She held her arms out while sating this prenticing to weird it. “Hmm tough decision. Everyone else understood. It’s ok. Trust me. If I could do things over I would do the same thing.”
He shook his head. “You are something. I would have done the same thing no doubt about it.”
