~Chapter 5~

At about 8:30 Christy and AJ arrived to the house.  They found Kirsten, Amy, and Kevin all sleeping in the living room.
“It’s only 8:30 and they’re sleeping.  Well we can’t have that.”  Christy whispered to AJ.  She walked to the stereo system, cranked the volume up and turned on the radio.  Everyone snapped awake to the loud sound of “It’s My Life”.  Christy turned it off and turned back around to face them amused by their reaction.
“Hello!  I’m letting you know I’m home now.”  Christy said.
“Thank you Christy.  It was just so nice of you.”  Amy said sitting up on the love seat.
“Don’t mention it.  Quite the party you’re having here.”
“I know want to join the fun?”  Kirsten asked.
“Why not.”
They all sat and talked catching up on the past few months with Kirsten since she hadn’t really talked to Kevin or AJ.
At about 1:00 AM the guys left to go home and get some actual sleep.  They were pretty much planning on sleeping all day.  They decided that they would pick the girls up on their way to the arena for their concert.
----------
“Christy!  Kirsten yelled over Christy’s guitar playing trying to get her attention.
“Yeah?”  she said setting down her guitar.
“They guys are here let’s go.”  She and Kirsten left Christy’s room and walked down the stairs to see AJ and Kevin.  It was only 3:00 but they needed to go for sound check and everything so the girls were just tagging along.
“You ready?”  AJ asked holding out his hand.
“Yep let’s go.”  Christy said and took his hand.  They all walked out to the black limo parked on the street.  The driver opened the door and the five of them piled in.  Howie, Nick, and Brian were already inside.
“Hey guys how have you been?”  Amy asked as soon as she sat down.
“Great and how about you guys?”  Nick answered
“Pretty good.”  Kirsten said.
“The rest of the ride went fast.  They all talked in small groups about whatever came to mind.

~Chapter 6~

“Wow I would never be able to get up in front of this many people.”  Kirsten said looking at the view from the stage.
“Me either.”  Said Christy.  “I would pass out.”
“Move along.”  Said Amy.  “The guys need the stage.”
The girls walked down to front row and sat down.
“Want us to act like fans?”  Kirsten asked.
“Oh Nick I love you!  Ah!  He looked at me!  He knows I’m alive!  I can died a happy girl!”  Christy yelled jumping up and down.  Everyone laughed.
The guys and the band practiced for about an hour, and left stage before the gates were open and they started letting people in.
“This is going to be a cool concert.”  Kirsten commented as they made their way to the dressing rooms.
“Yeah it was cool even when you were practicing.  Too bad I probably won’t be able to hear you guys over all the screaming.”  Said Amy.
“Last time you all sounded like chipmunks half way through the show.  Kevin sound like Nick.”
The guys had to go change and get ready for the concert so the girls went to their seats to wait for the show to begin.
----------
“How much time does it take in between acts?”  Kirsten asked.
They’ve been waiting about five minutes since EYC got finished.
The crowd began to do the wave while chanting, “Backstreet Boys, Backstreet Boys!”
Finally the house lights dimmed and out they come on cables flying toward stage.  Then something unsusceptible happened.  Through Christy’s eyes it all happened in slow motion.  The cables gave way on AJ and Brian and they plunged to the concrete floor.  Without thinking Christy pushed through the crowd that had gathered around the two guys.  The bodyguards got there before she did and kept her back.
“You’ve got to stay back.”  John, one of the bodyguards said to her.
The rest of the guys sat on stage shocked and very worried about AJ and Brian.  They couldn’t go down there it was too risky.  The paramedics got there several minutes later with two stretchers.  They didn’t fall on anyone but on some stairs.  The bodyguards and Christy followed the paramedics to the ambulance and Christy rode with AJ to the hospital.

~Chapter 7~

“I’m sorry ma’am you’re going to have to wait in the waiting room.”  One of the paramedics said, stopping Christy from going any farther.  She watched them wheel AJ and Brian out of site.  She stood there for awhile still in shock at what happened.  She didn’t really know how long she was standing there.  Kevin appeared and led her to the waiting room with the others.  Everyone had scared and worried looks on their faces.  Kevin led her to one of the chairs and they both sat down.  Christy hadn’t even started to cry yet.
~This isn’t happening.  AJ and Brian are fine it’s all a dream.~  she thought.
“All that blood.”  She said softly.  “There was so much of it.  How could this have happened?”  Tears finally started streaming down her face.  Nick who was on the other said of her put his arm around her, trying to comfort her.
“They’re going to be ok Christ.  They’re strong guys.  They’ll make it.”  After that everyone sat in silence waiting for a doctor to come out and talk to them.  It was an hour before anyone came out.  To everyone else it seemed like months.
“Are you all her for Brian Littrell and Alexander McLean?”
“Yes we all are.”  Howie answered from the corner of the room.
“Hi I’m Dr. Stevenson.”  He reached out to shake Kevin’s hand, who was the nearest person to him.
“How are they?”  Amy asked growing impatient.  Christy squeezed Nick’s hand scared about what the doctor was about to say.
“Brian is stable at the moment.  But I’m afraid he isn’t going to make it through the night.  I’m sorry.”
“Do you know that for sure?”  Nick asked.
“No.  Things are so bad for him right now.  By the looks of things he must have fallen and almost landed on his head.  I don’t know how he could have survived if he fell like that.  There’s a slim chance of him making it.”
“What about AJ?”  Christy asked.
“They’re still working on his.  He’s in better shape than Brian.  One of his legs is broken.  I’m afraid that’s all I know for right now.  You can go and see Brian.  He’s in the intensive care unit.  Normally we wouldn’t let visitors in there so early but I think you need some time with him.  Please only two people at a time.  I will let you know more as soon as I can.  I’ll show two of you to his room.”  Nick and Kevin followed Dr. Stevenson to intensive care leaving the others behind.  Amy and Kirsten sat on both sides of Christy trying to calm her down.  They weren’t much help since they were also crying.  About a half-hour Dr. Stevenson came back into the waiting room.  He said AJ was going to be ok but he was in a coma.  They weren’t very sure how long her was going to be out.
“Can I see him?”  Christy asked with some hope.
“Not yet.  We still have to run a few tests.”  The doctor then left after he assured Christy that he would come back when she would see him.  Nick and Kevin finally came back to the waiting room to let two more people see him.  Howie and Christy stood up and followed Nick to ICU and Nick pointed out which room he was in.  It was a horrible site to see.  He had a lit of machines hooked up to him.  Christy figured they were the only things keeping him alive.  She sat in the chair next to his bed and took his hand.  Howie stood by the side of her chair.
“Come on Brian you can’t die on us now.”  Howie said softly.  A tear rolled down his cheek.  Christy was already crying.  Ever since she started she couldn’t stop.  With her free hand she took Howie’s, and they sat in silence praying for their friend.

~Chapter 8~

“I’m going to get a soda.  You want anything?”  Amy asked standing up.  Kevin stood up too and pulled her into a hug.
“Can you just stay here for now?  Please?”  he asked.  His voice was really shaky.
“Of course.”
Kevin held Amy close crying on her shoulder.  She had never seen him cry before that moment.  Kirsten rested her head on Nick’s shoulder, they were both crying too, fearing they would never be able to talk to both Brian and AJ again.
----------
Howie and Christy joined the rest in the waiting room.  Amy and Kirsten took their turn at seeing Brian so it was just Howie, Nick, Kevin, and Christy.
“Your just missed the doctor.  They’re letting one person at a time to see AJ.”  Said Nick.  “We thought we’d let you see him first.”
“What room?”  she asked.
“205.”
She turned back and walked to AJ’s room.  She passed Brian’s room, and could hear that the girls were talking to him.  She hesitated before walking into AJ’s room.  She took a deep breath and walked inside.  He didn’t have that many machines on him.  Well not as much as Brian had on him.  She sat down and took his hand.
“Oh baby.”  She sighed.  “Why did this have to happen to you and Brian huh?”  she paused for a moment and tried to stop her crying at least a little bit so that she was able to talk.  “There’s probably reporters from here to Japan camped outside.  There you go again trying to get all the attention.”  She laid her head down on the bed and closed her eyes.  She still couldn’t believe this who all happening.
After awhile she sat up again.  She wasn’t sure if she had fallen asleep or not.  She glanced at the clock that was on the wall.  It was 12:00 AM.  Christy must have fallen asleep for maybe only ten minutes or a little more but she really wasn’t sure about time.  She figured the rest would like to see him too.
“I love you.”  She kissed his bandaged forehead and left the room and returned to the waiting room.  There were more people this time.  AJ’s mom Denise and Brian’s parents Jackie and Harold were there.  Denise stood up and gave Christy a big hug.  They looked at each other and saw the pain in each other’s eyes.  They didn’t have to say a thing.  They could see it all through the eyes.  They hugged each other one more time and Denise left to go see her son.
Jackie was the next to give Christy a hug.
“We caught a flight down here thirty minutes after Kevin called us.  I can’t believe we got down here so fast.  I’m so thankful.”  Jackie said.
“How are you holding up?”  Christy asked.
“I’m trying.  He’ll make it though I just know it.  Brian won’t give up that easy.  Neither will AJ.”  They separated and Christy sat down next to Nick and Jackie next to her husband.  Nick put his arm around Christy’s shoulder and she leaned against him.  She looked around the room at all the sad faces.  Everyone had been crying and you could really tell.  No one spoke for the longest time.  Nick looked at his watching.  It was now 1:30.
