Love Always
~Chapter 1~
~Can it be? is it really him?~ I thought as I sat behind the desk at the veterinarian clinic. I watched him as he came through the glass doors with the most adorable looking puppy.
~Is he really A.J. McLean? My eyes must be playing a game with me!~
I looked away so he wouldn't catch me staring at him. I have a problem with staring at
people. I might as well tell you about myself. My name is Brenda. I'm 20 years old, I live in Orlando Florida, and I am studying to be a veterinarian. I have brown hair, green eyes,
and I'm 5'8".
"Hi." Came a deep voice. "I have an appointment for 3:30."
"Oh....y-yes come w-with me." I stuttered.
~Calm down Brenda!~ I thought to myself. I showed him to the room and went back to the front desk. After about 20 minutes A.J. came out with his dog and came up to me.
"Uh......hi." he said with a smile.
"Hi." He smiled! I love his smile!
"How much do I owe?"
"Hold on let me see.....$28.50."
"Ok." He pulled out his wallet and handed the money to me.
"What." he said with a smirk on his face.
"What do you mean what?" I asked a little confused.
"You have this big smile on your face"
Before I could say anything he asked, "What's your name?"
"Brenda......and you're A.J."
"That's me. Ummm.......when do you get off?"
"5:00......why?"
"You're probably doing something with your boyfriend huh?" he said looking me straight
in the eye. I love his eyes!
"No I don't have a boyfriend."
"A pretty girl like you doesn't have a boyfriend?"
"Nope."
"Hmm......well would you like to go to movie with me tonight? Say around 7:00?" he
asked.
I smiled. "Sure." I took out a piece of paper and wrote down my phone number and address.
"I'll pick you up at 7 then." he said with a big smile.
"OK."
"Bye" he said.
I watched him as he walked out of the doors and got into his car.
"Oh my gosh!" I said out loud. "I have a date with A.J. McLean! I can't wait to tell
Venessa!"
I closed up the clinic just as the last veterinarian walked out. I have no time to waist. I
have to get ready for my date!
~Chapter 2~
As soon as I walked into my apartment, I saw my room mate Venessa laying on the couch watching some lame movie on TV. Venessa and I are a lot alike. We have a lot of the same interests. Including our love for the Backstreet Boys. Venessa has blond hair and blue eyes. She's 22 and is going to college like me.
"Girl you are never going to believe what happened to me today!" I said trying not to scream.
"What." She said looking more interested in the movie.
"I met A.J. McLean!"
"What?!" She said almost screaming.
"And he asked me out! He is so nice I hardly noticed he is even famous!"
"Wow! I can't believe this! You are so lucky! Is he picking you up here? Do I get to meet him?
"Please let me meet him!" she begged me.
"Ok, ok, calm down. Don't get your undies in a bundle! You can meet him!" I walked to my room before she could say another world.
~What am I gonna wair?~ I though. ~It's only a movie I don't have to get too dressed up.~
I pulled out a pair of khakis and a blue long sleeved shirt, and put them on. An hour later
I was finally ready. I can be a real slow poke sometimes. I went back into the living room to watch TV with Venessa since I had a little while before A.J. came.
"I still can't believe it." she said as I walked in the room. "You have to let me meet Howie! Hell I want to meet all of them!"
"Hey I haven't met the other guys yet so calm down!" I said with a smile.
"When I first met A.J. I was like, oh my god! Oh my god! It's A.J. McLean! But when he was talking to me I hardly noticed who he really was." I let out a sigh. "He is so sweet."
Venessa just smiled. And then there was a knock at the door.
~Chapter 3~
"H-H-H-Hi!" Venessa stuttered. "Come on in."
"Thanks." A.J. said with a big grin. "Hi I?m A.J. and you would be......."
"I'm Venessa. Brenda's room mate."
"Nice to meet you."
"You too."
I have never seen Venessa with such a big smile. It looked like her mouth was starting to go off her face. A.J. saw me sitting on the couch and smiled. I stood up and walked towards him. Venessa looked more excited than I felt! I was so nervous I could hardly stand it.
"Hey you ready to go?" A.J. asked.
"Yep let's go."
"Well it was really nice meeting you Venessa."
"Nice meeting you too." She replied in a daze. I gave her a friendly nudge so she would calm down a little bit.
"See you later Venessa." I said.
"Bye."
"Is she a fan or something?" A.J. asked as we walked outside to his car.
"Yes she is. She is a huge fan of you guys. I thought she was gonna act worse than she really did. I'm a fan too but not as much as her."
"That's cool. I guess I have to arrange something so you two can meet the rest of the guys."
"That would be cool." I said.
We got to A.J.'s car and he opened the passenger side door to let me in. What a
gentleman. He got in on the other side and we headed for the movie theater.
"So what movie are we going to see?" I asked as we pulled into the parking lot.
"Anything as long as I'm with you." He said looking into my eyes.
"Hmmmm....what is that movie about? I haven't heard of it." I said jokingly. A.J. let out a soft laugh.
"You're cute. I was thinking we could go see the new Adam Sandler movie."
"Sounds good to me."
A.J. got out of the car and ran to the other side and opened the door. I could get used to this! During the movie, A.J. out his arm around me and occasionally kissed my cheek.
~Why doesn?t he just kiss me damn it?!~ I kept thinking.
After the movie we went for a walk on the beach. It was a perfect night. No clouds, a fool moon, and stars all over the beautiful sky. As we walked along the dimly lit beach, A.J. stopped and looked me in the eyes and said,
"I don't know what it is about you that made me fall for you so hard."
"I feel the same way." I said with a smile. ~Brenda out of all the things you could have
said you just had to say that. How typical of you.~ I thought.
Then A.J. leaned towards me and kissed me. I definatly feel the same way. But what?s going to happen to us when he goes on tour in 2 weeks?
"What do you say I take you and Venessa to go meet the guys tomorrow?" A.J. asked as we got to the door of my apartment.
"That would be great. Venessa is just dieing to meet Howie." I said.
A.J. smiled. "So I take it she's got the hots for D. huh? Well she's in luck 'cause he's
single." He gave me a long hug. It felt so good to be in his arms.
"I wish you didn't have to go in 2 weeks." I sighed.
"I'll miss you." He said. "But let's not talk about that right now. We have 2 weeks. That will be enough time to start a relationship."
~an relationship? Yay!~
A.J. leaned down and gave me a long kiss. We said our good-byes and I went into the apartment.
~Chapter 4~
"Brenda........Brenda!!.....Brenda get up! Tell me about your date!" I let out a moan.
"Did you really have to wake me up?"
"Brenda it's 10:30. I think you should be up. She walked to the other side of my room and sat in my green inflatable chair.
"Now my dear , how was your date?"
I smiled. "I was really nice."
"Nice? Nice?! You went out on a date with a hot babe, not to mention famous, and all you can say is nice? Give me a break!"
"OK it was great! We went to the movies and then for a walk on the beach, and that's all I'm saying." I said as I got out of bed.
"Did you kiss him? Is he a good kisser?" She asked sitting on the edge of her chair.
"Since when are you so interested in my private life anyway?"
"Since you went out with A.J. McLean of the Backstreet Boys!" I smiled and looked at the small poster of the guys on my door.
"Yes he is a good kisser. Now will you please leave so I can get dressed?" Venessa got up and started walking to the door.
"You never tell me anything." She mumbled.
"Oh by the way Venessa, we might get to meet the rest of the guys today." I said as I pulled out some clothes out of my dresser. Venessa stopped and turned around with the most surprised look on her face.
"You mean.......... I get to meet Howie?" She asked almost screaming.
"Yep. And for your information he is single." She started jumping up and down then left and went into the living room.
After I got dressed, I went into the kitchen to get some juice. Before I could get any the phone rang.
"I'll get it!" Venessa said hopping off the couch. "Hello?........Hi A.J.!......1:00? Cool! ok bye." Venessa hung up the phone and walked over to me trying to be as calm as possible.
"What did A.J. have to say?" I asked.
"He said that he is going to bring the guys over here at 1:00!" Venessa was almost going hysterical!
"Calm down girl! If you don't I'm going to have to lock you in the closet!" I warned trying to keep a straight face.
"Ok, ok I'll be ok."
The next few hours went by pretty fast. The guys should be here soon. Venessa was pretty nervous. She said she wasn't, but I could tell by the way she wouldn't sit still.
"Will you just sit down? You're driving me crazy!" I exclaimed.
"Sorry." She said as she went to sit on the chair. "I guess I am a little but nervous."
"Ha! A little bit!?" I said. There was a knock at the door. Venessa looked freaked out! I guess I was a little nervous myself. I got up and opened the door. The first person I saw was Kevin.
"Hi are you Brenda?" He asked.
"Yeah that's me."
"We have heard so much about you." He said glancing at A.J. "Oh be the way I'm Kevin." He gave me a kiss on the cheek and a hug. The other 4 guys did the same. When they all got inside I introduced them to Venessa.
"She's single." I said looking at Howie. She pinched me in the side warning me to stop.
"Well we are very sorry but we only have about a half hour to talk because we have to go to rehearsal." A.J. said walking over to me and putting his arm around my waist.
"That's ok." I said resting my head on his shoulder.
So we spent the half hour that we had talking and joking around. Howie and Venessa seemed to really hit it off. Well of course it wasn?t hard to tell that they did since Howie had asked her out as he guys were leaving. A.J. was the last one to the door. He stopped and looked at me.
"Umm.....I think I'll go outside for a few minutes." Venessa said and went through the door. It was just A.J. and I left inside.
"So....I guess I'll see you tonight?" A.J. said wrapping his arms around me.
"Yeah." I said. "Sounds good."
"OK I'll stop buy at 7 then." He kissed me (sigh) and started to walk out the door. "See ya later." he said with a big smile.
"Bye."
"Yo A.J., you better get you butt out there or they're gonna leave without you." Venessa said walking back inside.
"Yeah, yeah I'm comin'." he said. He got into the car and they all left.
"Wow." Venessa sighed. "That was fun."
"Yeah." I agreed. "But I think this is only the beginning."
~Chapter 5~
A.J. arrived to the apartment at 7 like he said he would. We decided just to go for a walk and talk for awhile.
"I wish you didn't have to leave in 2 weeks." I sighed. "I'm sorry but I just can't stop thinking about it. You are just going to leave and I'll never hear from you and you will probably find some other girl." I walked over and sat down on a swing in a little park we had walked into.
"Brenda, you know that's not true. You know me better than that." he said kneeling in front of me.
"Actually I don't A.J. I only met you yesterday you know." he looked into my eyes.
"Yeah but you already know a lot about me. And you should know that I want to be with you, and only you."
I couldn't hold back the tears anymore. I knew that I would miss him too much. I missed him already and he was sitting right in front of me. We both stood up and he held me in his arms for a long time. It seemed like hours before he let go. It's not like minded though. When he finally let go he gave me a long kiss. We started walking down the street hand in hand. I knew he meant everything he said. But I still couldn't help but wonder where this relationship was headed.
~Chapter 6~
The first week had passed by so fast. I had spent every minute besides school and work with A.J and the other guys. But when I was at work A.J. would always send flowers to me and would meet me by school after it would end.
Brian happened to be one of my best friends. We have a lot in common and the same sense of humor which made it even more fun to hang around him. We would get the rest of the guys laughing so hard they be in tears.
His girlfriend Lieghann is also a very good friend of mine. She is a few years older than I am but she is like a sister to me. A.J. and I haven't spoken about him leaving since that night in the park. We decided to make the best of our time together and not talk about it. Venessa and Howie have been dating for a week now. Their relationship has gotten stronger each day. I am happy for them. They are such a cute couple.
"Venessa you here? I'm home!" I called out as I walked in the door.
"Hey." she said walking down the hall. "How was school?"
"Oh just loads of fun." I said sitting down on the couch.
"How about you? Did you even go today?"
"Yeah." she called out from the kitchen. "I just skipped my last class. I'll make it up later. Oh yeah the guys wanted to go swimming at A.J.'s house tonight. You wanna go?"
"You don't have to ask me twice."
As 7:00 rolled around we left for A.J.'s house. A.J.'s house is so huge. It seems way too big for just one person. He has a huge pool and we all hang around there a lot. We walked around the side of the house and saw all the guys and Lieghann swimming.
"Hey guys." I said sitting down on the edge of the pool.
"Hello." Nick said swimming towards me. "You have your suit on?"
"Yeah."
"Good." Then he pulled me into the pool clothes and all. Good thing I brought extra clothes with me.
"Ok you're dead!" I said as soon as I got to the surface.
Everyone was laughing. I was too. I took off the clothes that I had over my suit and
tossed them on my bag.
"Hey." A.J. said from behind me. "I missed you." He kissed me.
"I missed you too." I said.
"Awwwwwwww." Everyone else said.
"Oh hush." I said smiling. "Hey where's Venessa and D.?"

"Why don't you and Brenda come with us on tour for awhile?" Howie asked as he and Venessa walked to the front of the house.
"We have collage and jobs here. We can't just drop them and leave like that. I wish we could. But it just wouldn't work."
"Yeah I understand." They kissed each other for awhile. Then Howie broke away.
"We better be getting back." he said.
"Yeah you're right." Venessa sighed.

"Hey where have you been?" I asked as Howie and Venessa walked back to the pool.
"Oh we were just talking...." Venessa said smiling.
"Yeah......right." Brian said looking at Howie.
Ever had gotten out of the pool and was just talking.
"Well I better get going I have to work tomorrow." Lieghann said.
"Yeah me too." I said.
"I'll walk you to your car Liegh." Brian said. They both got up and Brian stopped in front of me and gave me a hug. Not only was Brian my best friend he was like a brother to me too.
"See you later." he said
"Bye.......Bye Liegh."
"Bye!" she said and they left.
It was just A.J., Nick, Kevin, Venessa, Howie and I left sitting there.
"Well I better be going too." Kevin said getting up
"Yeah me too." Nick chimed in.
"OK see ya." A.J. said
"Bye." they said at the same time and left
"Well I'll walk you to your car." Howie said to Venessa. They got up and walked around the side of the house.
"I'll be there in a few minutes." I called out.
"Alone at last." A.J. sighed. He leaned down and kissed me. I pulled away. "Um A.J. can I talk to you for a sec.?" I said walking to a lawn chair, and sat on it.
"Sure." He said following me.
"Ok I've been thinking about his for awhile. You know.......we both know...that when
you leave we won't be able to talk to each other very much. Now before you say anything I want to get this all out. I don't think it's fare to either of us to keep this relationship going while you are gone." I paused for a second. I could tell that he knew where this was going. "Long distant relationships just don't work. And it will be too painful not to be able to see each other for a few months. I'm sorry A.J. as much as I hate to do this........I can't see you anymore. Or at least while you are away. It will just hurt too much."
"No.....please. We can work through this. I know we can. It will hurt even more knowing you're not mine." he said.
"I'm sorry A.J." I whispered.
It was hard to tell what he was feeling since he had his sunglasses on so I couldn?t look
into his eyes. But I could tell when a tear appeared.
"I'm so sorry." I got up and started walking away crying.
"Brenda I love you." He said I stopped and turned around. "I love you too. But.....I'm sorry." I turned around and ran to the car. Leaving him standing there. Venessa could tell that something was wrong. She said bye to Howie, got into the car and drove me home.

Howie saw A.J. sitting but the pool and walked over to him.
"Hey Bone what was that all about?" He asked sitting next to his friend. A.J. picked up the shirt I had left there.
"She broke up with me." He said blankly. He stood up and walked into the house. "She broke up with me." he said again. "I have to get her back." he said and went into his room.

"You broke up with him didn't you." Venessa accused pulling into the parking lot of our apartment.
"Yes." I said in between sobs. "It's just better this way."
We got out of Venessa's car and walked into the apartment.
"Brenda you really messed this one up. I figured you would do this. It's just the way you are. You have to stop listening with your head......and start listening to your heart. You found Mr. Right....and you let him go." Venessa said.
"You're right. How could I have been so stupid? And the sad part is.....he told me he loved me before I left. And I still left! I shouldn't have done that."
"Right...now go and talk to him." Venessa said.
"No I can't do that. I broke up with him. What makes you think he will take me back?"
"What makes you think he won't?" She had a point there.
"No........I just can't. Not now." I walked to my room and laid down on my bed. ~I think I'll call in sick tomarrow.~ I thought.
