Chapter 5

“Oh Kirsten it’s not that hard to get down.” Said Kelly.
Eventually Kirsten did get down, one hour later. Alexa thought it was pretty funny and laughed at Kirsten after she had finally gotten down.
“What kind of moron gets stuck in a tree!” Alexa laughed.
“Oh shut up.” Kirsten scowled.
Night soon set in, leaving the girls in darkness with no light on them but the glow from the fire.
“You know, it’s kinda creepy out here at night.” Kelly commented after a long silence from the girls.
“Yeah it is.” Leah agreed, looking behind her.
“Ok let’s not talk about this ok. We’re on an island, in the dark. There’s no need for all of us to get freaked out.” Said Heather.
“Watch out Heather the Boogie Man might come and get your while you’re asleep.” Alexa laughed.
Heather stuck out her tongue at Alexa and got up to go to sleep. Eventually the rest of the girls went to sleep.
----------
The next day the girls woke up to find that it was raining pretty hard. The girls scrambled to get everything undercover as the wind started to pick up, blowing a few loose articles away. No matter how hard they tried, everything was wet. Their clothing, their sleeping bags, everything. After about an hour the rain died down, but the sun never came out. Kelly and Lisa went out to find the things that blew away while the rest of the girls tried to fix their camp up a little bit.
“Well this is just great.” Said Alexa. “We’re going to be wet all day and sleep like crap tonight because our stuff won’t be dry by then.”
“Way to look on the bright side of things Lex.” Abby mumbled.
They spent the whole day trying to keep warm. They were wet and hungry which made everyone PMS queens. Lisa tried to think on the bright side of everything but after getting many glares from the others on her optimistic point of few, she grew grumpy also and stopped trying to talk to everyone.
By nightfall the clothes they were wearing were dry but their sleeping bags and everything else wasn’t. It was one long night for all of them.
About four days had passed by and there wasn’t a day that it didn’t rain for at least an hour. By the third day they had figured out how to keep everything dry.
“I’m sick of all this rain.” Said Alexa.
“Well it doesn’t look like it going to rain the rest of the day. There isn’t a cloud in the sky now.” Leah said pointing up in the sky.
“Thank the lord.” Said Abby. “Now maybe I can actually get some sun.”
“Wait a minute guys we’re missing some people.” Heather said looking around.
“No we aren’t.” Kelly said looking around. “There’s Leah, and Alexa’s digging through her stuff, Abby is right here, Lisa’s swimming, and you and I are standing right here.”
“You’re forgetting about Kirsten.” Said Abby.
“Oh yeah.”
“Maybe she’s up in a tree again.” Alexa shouted over to them.
“Kirsten!” they all started shouting. “Where did you go!” Finally they found her, in a tree again.
“What is it with you and sitting in a tree?” Leah asked.
“I don’t know, it’s peaceful up here. You should try it.”
“Leah, in a tree? HA!” Leah said. “I don’t climb trees.”
“You can stay in your own tree.” Said Heather.
