THE slow thrills LINKS PAGE

Follow the links below to waste a few hours of your life!...
Some bands we like...
Billy Mahonie
Impressive new signings to the Too Pure label.
Godspeed You Black Emporer (unofficial) Godspeed You Black Emporer(offical)
Two fine sites dedicated to this fantastic Canadian collective.
Belle and Sebastian
B & S are the subject of many sites, and this one is pretty comprehensive and detailed. It also contains links to many of the others, so it is a good starting point.
Captain Beefheart
There are many sites dedicated to the work of Don Van Vliet, but this is my favourite. Regularly updated, so it's definitely not a museum piece.
Hefner
Cool official site run by one of the best new bands in Britain.
Holger Czukay
Eccentric but essential website of the man from Can.
Man...or Astroman?
Everyone's favourite surf/punk/sci-fi guitar band. Cool website too.
Pavement
If you love Pavement, check out the amount of mp3s on this site. Great graphics and info too.
Prolapse
Often overlooked, this is the website of the best live band in Britain. Ignore them and it's your loss!
Stereolab
Fantastic, long-running Stereolab site, packed with info and archive material.
The Fall(official site)
What MES and the gang are really up to
The Fall (unofficial)
The 'FallNet' site, including a 'Great Pop Things' comic index!
Guided By Voices
Massive website - everything you ever wanted to know about this most prolific band!

....some cool record labels
City Slang
European home of Tortoise, Lambchop, Built to Spill, To Rococo Rot, Schneider TM, Salaryman, etc. Great website.
Matador Records (US) Matador Records (Europe)
Check out both sites for the maximum range of mp3 downloads, as well as loads of info on Pavement, JSBX, Yo La Tengo, Cornelius, Pizzicato Five, Sleater-Kinney and the rest of Matador's fine line-up.
Chemikal Underground Records
For all your news and info on Mogwai, the Delgados, Cha Cha Cohen, etc.
Too Pure Records
Home of Hefner, Billy Mahonie and Jack.

...great radio...
John Peel
Still leading the way, this site will tell you who is in session this week, as well as having links to archives etc.
Blue Jam
The most radical, original, controversial and hilarious programme on the airwaves. Great mix of music too.
XFM (Dublin, Ireland)
Internet radio station broadcasting in real audio and video. Check out Lolita's Burrito and the Chillage Idiots.
Pirate Radio Zone
Info on pirate stations throughout the UK.
Internet Radio Stations
Info on the stations broadcasting worldwide on the internet
XFM 104.9
Not as great as it used to be since Capital took it over, but at least you can hear John Kennedy in Real Audio on this site.

Music news from Northern Ireland
Fastfude
This is the best source of what's really going on in the Northern Ireland music scene. Check out their interactive news page (which is where you get all your info but it can be spoiled by petty squabbling) and the band profiles. Some sound clips are a very welcome addition.
Oh Yeah
Stuart Bailie's site covers all aspects of Irish music from David Holmes to Therapy and Vam Morrison. Well worth a look.

...and miscellaneous humour and weirdness
Useless Links
For those of you who think the internet is a great thing, here's some useless links for you!
The Church of the SubGenius
The weirdest supercult of them all.
Infinite Jest - reviews, articles, etc
The old joke about 'How do you keep an idiot busy?' written on either side of a piece of paper will strike a chord with anyone who has read this wonderful 1,079 page novel. It took me five months, and I'm seriously missing it. This site fills a few gaps - links to good interviews with David Foster Wallace himself.
HTML For Beginners
Where I learnt to do this!
BabySue
The funniest goddamn thing on the goddamn internet!
The Internet Movie Database
Movie trivia, a very handy site to visit.
The Simpsons Archive
Incredibly detailed stuff, mostly generated from the Simpsons newsgroup.
Twin Peaks: A Who's Who
For those who are confused by the goings on in that part of the world.
Cartoon Laws of Physics
Self-explanatory, really!
Air Guitar
Learn how to play air guitar with this colossally stupid site.
Inexplicable object of the week
Self-explanatory really!
