Nick and Kevin didn't leave the house. The rain was coming down
hard outside,so they knew the boys had to find shelter somewhere.
"I'm really getting worried,Kev," Nick's voice shook slightly,as he paced
in the safety of the dim livingroom."It'll be okay.Just calm down.Zeke
has got to come back soon. Then he can help us find the guys," Kevin said,
lighting the last candle with what was left of Brian's matches."I mean
it,Kevin. What if something has happened to them? What if they got hurt? What
if-" Kevin took Nick by the shoulders and shook him gentle."Stop! You're
going to worry yourself to death for nothing!" he said. Then his face softened
as he met Nick's eyes. They hugged, and then pulled apart. As the oldest,
Kevin sometimes forgot that Nick was just a kid.And no matter how grown up
he tried to act,he knew that Nick loved his friends as much as Kevin himself
did."We'll find them,Nick. If it takes all day and night,we'll find them" Kevin
said. That's when they heard the trucks outside. The door flew open, and there
was Zeke. The bodyguards were right behind him."Zeke!," Nick cried, running
to the burly dark-skinned man."What's going on,you guys?," Zeke could tell
something was wrong."It's the others. They've all disappeared. When we got here
last night,AJ and Howie just vanished. Then when we got up this morning,Brianw
was gone. We've searched the house from top to bottom,"Kevin said. That's when
Zeke and the guards lept into action.Despite the rain, they set off into the
area around the house.Although he was told to stay inside,Nick followed behind.
He was soaking wet and shivering, but Kevin knew Nick well enough to know that
he wasn't staying in that house alone. They wanted to find the boys.As they moved
deeper into the thick trees,Kevin saw a small wooden house in the middle
of it all."Hey,Zeke! Is that a shack or something?," Kevin asked.Zeke didn't
have the chance to answer. The door opened, and out popped three grinning faces.
"Guys!," Kevin raced to meet his friends. That's when he heard something
behind him snap. He saw the other's faces freeze in horror."NICK! LOOK OUT!,"
Brian screamed. Kevin felt his heart stop as the tree collapsed, catching
Nick under it."NICK!," Kevin heard his friends running behind him. They reached
Nick to find him in tears, his right arm caught under the weight of the tree.
"No!," Zeke cried,as they started to lift the tree."Lifting it off will only
make it worse if he moves it!," he instructed one of the bodyguards to go
and call 911. Brian and AJ knelt beside Nick, who was ready to faint due to
the pain in his arm."Zeke,we've got to move this thing!," Brian said."We
can't,Brian. It'll make it worse," Zeke told him."But it's hurting him now!
God,man,I can't stand here and watch this!," Brian started off towards the
house, but turned back and wordlessly sat down in the mud, right next to Nick.
He whispered something into Nick's ear,and Nick could only nod.Kevin realized
then how close the two boys were. Brian sat by Nick's side, talking to him to
keep him awake until the EMTs arrived. They pulled the tree off,and then
carefully set Nick's arm in a brace. The hard part was getting him off the
ground. He was wet, muddy, and terrified but he walked back to the house with
Brian's help."Whoa,son.Why don't we get a look at your leg?," Kevin looked
down at Brian's leg as the EMT stopped him from following Nick.Brian sat
down on the sidewalk, and the EMT checked him over and cleaned his cuts up.
Then they loaded into the bus as Brian climbed into the ambulance with Nick.
They rode in complete silence, their minds cluttered with thoughts. Even
being seperated from each other didn't cause them joy in their reunion. They
were all wondering how severe Nick's arm injury was. When they got to the
hospital,Nick had already been sent back to have x-rays and begin surgery.
"Brian!," Kevin found his cousin in the waiting room."Brian, what did the
doctors say?," Brian met Kevin's eyes as he gave them the news.
Now that the boys are back together, they have more to overcome. What has happened to Nick?If his arm injury is serious, will he ever be able to perform again?Stay tuned for Chapter 4 of MISSING:A Fan's Worst Nightmare.
