- YOU GIVE LOVE A BAD NAME

US rock band Bon Jovi have confirmed they will perform at the weddings of 120 fans in Las Vegas in April.

The band are reported to be planning to take a break from their American tour, to play for 60 couples at the Graceland Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The event is being arranged by the band's fan club and the weddings will take place in the chapel where Jon Bon Jovi married his wife Dorothea, on April 21.

Jon Bon Jovi commented: "We're always being asked 'Would you sing at my wedding?' or 'Will you announce my engagement on stage?', so we thought this would be good." - (16.02.01)
- OXFORD UNI RECRUIT JOVI

Jon Bon Jovi is expected to follow in the footsteps of Michael Jackson by addressing students at the Oxford Union.

Jovi will speak at the world-famous debating society on Friday, June 15, before considerably less than the three million people who have watched Bon Jovi in the last 12 months.

His appearance will follow that of the self-styled 'King of Pop' earlier this year, who gave a speech about the plight of the world's children, detailing his own upbringing.

Jovi commented: "I do have a bit of experience performing in front of crowds but this audience does present a whole new set of challenges.

"In a way that's why I accepted the invitation. It wasn't vanity, it was more, 'OK this is a new curve, let's do it'".

"It's the same feeling that has led me to start at the bottom as an actor and prove myself I'm not frightened of failure, I'm frightened of standing still.", reports news service ananova.com.

Amy Harland, president of the Oxford Union, said: "To hear from a man whose music has had such a huge impact across the generations and indeed countries would be fantastic.

- BON JOVI PLAN NEW STUDIO ALBUM
Legendary rockers Bon Jovi are planning to release a new studio album next year followed by a retrospective box set in 2003 to coincide with the band's 20th Anniversary.

Speaking to Billboard.com, modest frontman Jon Bon Jovi commented: "We're looking to go into the studio in January [2002]. I've already started writing a little bit."

He added, "Right now, I don't have anything to say as a solo artist. I know what I want to say as a band voice."

The band are currently touring supporting last year's Crush, which has now sold seven million copies worldwide.

The band have thought about a live album for a while, Jon said, "The hardcore fans have wanted a live album for years, but, also, a new generation of fans who just started with the band with Crush needed an education. They needed to know that we had nine other albums."

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum will host a special appearanceby BON JOVI on Saturday MAY 5, 2001 at 3:00 PM on the Museum's Main Stage. Members of BON JOVI will be in attendance and available to answer questions.

Bon Jovi propelled onto the music scene in 1984 with the release of their self-titled debut album and since then have sold over 80 million albums spanning over their 17 year career. The band's current release, CRUSH, was recently certified double-platinum. Bon Jovi were nominated for two
Grammys this year, for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group for "It's My Life" and Best Rock Album for "Crush". The New Jersey natives will release their first-ever live album ONE WILD NIGHT on May 22, 2001. - Jon Bon Jovi to give commencement speech at Monmouth University

Rock star Jon Bon Jovi will serve as commencement speaker at ceremonies May 16 at Monmouth University in West Long Branch.  Bon Jovi, who grew up in Sayreville and now lives in Middletown, also will receive an honorary degree from the university.  As the lead singer for the band that bears his name, Jon Bon Jovi has brought Jersey-style arena rock to audiences throughout the world.  Bon Jovi is in the midst of its "One Wild Night" tour, which ends with two sold-out homecoming shows, July 27 and 28, at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford. The tour began last July in Tokyo.
Like Bruce Springsteen before him, Jon Bon Jovi has maintained strong ties to his home state. He is well known for his charity work, including benefit concerts at Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank and at
Convention Hall in Asbury Park.  Earlier this year, the Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties named Jon Bon Jovi its Humanitarian of the Year for 2001.  Bon Jovi and his bandmates -- Richie Sambora, guitarist; Tico Torres, drummer; and David Bryan, keyboardist; -- are scheduled to perform May 12 on "Saturday Night Live."   The band will release its first live album, "One Wild Night," on May 12 on the Island/Def Jam label. The 15-track album was recorded throughout the tour, including some international dates.  Bon Jovi was nominated for two Grammy awards at this year's  ceremony. The band has been together since the early '80s, creating pop-rock and power ballads with flourishes of heavy metal. - BON JOVI GRAB AN ECHO AWARD

March 16, 2001, 11:25 am PT   :   Bon Jovi were among this year's Echo Award winners, Germany's answer to the GRAMMY Awards.  Announced Thursday (March 15) in Berlin, awards in 30 different categories were presented to both German and international recording artists.

- BON JOVI PLANS LIVE ALBUM FOR MAY 22 RELEASE

March 15, 2001, 12:10 pm PT   After recording and releasing seven studio albums over its long career, 
New Jersey rock band Bon Jovi is putting the final touches on what will be the group's first live album.

The track listing for the not-yet-titled album, due May 22, is still being finalized, however a spokesperson for Island Records said such fan faves as "It's My Life," "Runaway," "Bad Medicine," "Wanted Dead or Alive," "Living on a Prayer," and "One Wild Night" are confirmed for the album.

The band has released a number of live home video collections,  including last year's The Crush Tour: Live DVD and video, but never a CD.

Here is the official Press Release: US rock band BON JOVI and Jimmy Barnes have accepted the invitation from Universal Music Managing Director Paul Krige and promoter Michael Chugg to perform in Australia as part of The Universal Appeal at Colonial Stadium in Melbourne on March 24.

"We are extremely fortunate that Bon Jovi have accepted our invitation to come to Australia for this event. The Universal Appeal aims to collect monies for the families recently devastated by floods in rural Australia. It is a credit to everyone on the bill that Bon Jovi will donate their time for this cause."

"We have not been to Australia for 6 years and are coming this time to Rock Melbourne and Roll in the money for these great charities," Jon Bon Jovi said on the confirmation of the show.

The band will fly into Australia as part of their world tour to perform this one-off-event in Melbourne. The concert will raise money for The State Emergency Services who assist victims of Flood, Fire and Drought that constantly ravage the rural areas of Australia.

Promoter Michael Chugg said today, "This is a typically generous gesture by these major artists who have always been very supportive of charities."   Bon Jovi are known supporters of the Special Olympics, as well as performing Christmas Benefit concerts in their hometown New Jersey to support local charities.
