Jeffrey Scott Moorhead est né le 17 novembre 1966, de Tim Buckley et Mary Guibert. 
 Jeffrey Scott Moorhead was born the 17th november 1966, from Tim Buckley and Mary Guibert. 

Son père, chanteur de rock-folk, quitte le domicile conjugal quelques semaines après sa naissance. Sa mère se remarie peu de temps après, et donne à son fils donc le nom de son beau-père, Ron Moorhead.
His father, a folk-rock singer, leave the house a few weeks after his birth. His mother maries again few time later, and give his step-father name, Ron Moorhead, to his son.


Il ne voit son père qu'une fois, quelques semaines avant que celui-ci ne meure d'une overdose d'héroïne à l'âge de 28 ans. 
 He just sees his father once, a few weeks before he dies from an heroine overdose at the age of 28. 

Tim Buckley entre alors dans la légende, y entrainant son fils malgré lui.

Jeff Buckley passe sa petite enfance à Orange County, Californie, avant de déménager à New York avec sa mère pour aller au lycée.
 Jeff Buckley spend his young childhood at Orange County, California, before moving to New York with his mother to high school. 
A 13 ans, Jeff est déjà passionné de musique, il écoute Led Zeppelin, et beaucoup de choses très diverses ... 
 At the age of 13, Jeff is already pasionneted by music, listening to Led Zeppelin and a lot of diverses musics....
