![]() JON BON JOVI BILL CLINTON ISN'T THE ONLY famous American who makes news when he visits the barber. A few years ago, when Jon Bon Jovi decided to get his long shag trimmed, "I had no idea it was going to end up on CNN," he says. "I just needed a haircut." Such is the power of a rock singer with a pinup face. "When he comes into the salon, people drop their jaws,"says his Manhattan hairstylist, Helena Occhipinti. "He's got the most flawless skin with tiny pores you can't even see--and his face is very chiseled, with strong bone structure. Of course, he's got great hair too." Small wonder that the 34-year-old son of John and Carol Bongiovi from Sayreville, N.J., made a seamless transition from rock idol to movie star, playing a sexy housepainter in last year's Moonlight and Valentino. Currently he's in London shooting his second film, The Leading Man. But Bon Jovi, who is proud of "my huge Bongiovi nose, which is sort of a trademark in my family," is not about to flip his wig. He still lives in New Jersey, still tours with his Bon Jovi band and is still committed, after seven years of marriage and two kids, to high school sweetheart Dorothea Hurley ("We were in history class together," he says, "and she let me cheat off her"). Not surprisingly, "my vanity meter doesn't really get very high," he says. He uses no skin-care products and does nothing to emphasize his good looks. On the subject of beauty, he jokes, "Well, I shower nearly every other day." Photograph by Julian Broad |
