These Things Are: The TeleTubbies! TinkyWinky (recently caught up in a scandal. He was sacked from the job of jumping up and down and shouting "Again Again!" due to him allegedly stripping off naked on set. I guess it get's bloody hot in those costumes (no they're not real)), Dipsy, La La and Po.
The programme was initially designed by the BBC for toddlers and younger, but the TeleTubbies have acquired cult status in the few months they've been on with students, parents - most people in fact. But why are they so popular? So pressing, it seems, is this issue, that Channel 4 here in the UK ran a phone-in programme about (amongst other things) the TeleTubbies popularity! There were, of course, the usual bundle of beared grannies who "didn't see the educational value of the TeleTubbies" and were concerned that the programme may in some inconceivable way 'damage' today's youth. To be perfectly franks, never mind the kids, I want to bloody what it!
If you haven't seen this programme yet, WATCH IT, or if you don't live in the UK, EMIGRATE!
This Great Man Is: The Prisoner. What Can I say? Possibly the best thing to come out of the 60s that I can appreciate. I may have missed it when it was first on tele, but the wonders of modern TV programming brought me The Prisoner on Channel 4. I was hooked and shall shortly be adding a The Prisoner page (not to be confused with Prisoner Cell Block H, which isn't even funny) with loadsa info fer ya and the old pic too, no doubt. Keep watching.
Be Seeing You.
