Wandering through listessa blinded and in pain, the watcher bumped into Lady Wristy one day. Her pain cut through the veil of darkness like a knife. As the watcher listened she learned of Lady Wristys' tragic loss and deep sorrow. The watchers' sympathies stretched out to Lady Wristy and then a clearing in the haze began to develoop as the warning words reached her soul: don't think that there aren't those out there who care. "Yes," she whispered, "yes there is someone I think, but how do I find him? Lord Mark where are you?" Soft stains began to drift to the watcher through the punctures of the darkness. The rolling melody pushed against the enveloping darkness trying to reach her. "I know that melody," she said, "that's Mark theme!" Moving she lost the strains turning in the other direction she heard it again and began to move toward the rocket as quickly as she could. Stumbling she fell crying to her knees, as she was about to lose her faith she heard, "Relax, give in, doesn't matter what you thought you knew..."
"Mark, is that you?"
"Watcher? What's wrong?"
"Oh Lord Mark, I'm so sorry that I have not spoken to you lately. I was afraid for you. The Marquis de Prussian has found me and wrapped me in darkness and blinding pain. I'm afraid and alone. The pain is overwhelming! What am I going to do?"
"Don't worry m'lay I will help you. And together we will defeat the Marquis!"
Standing tall upon the tallest hilltop he called out across the 1,979 miles to the isle of Galapagos and the town of Boredom a challenge to the Marquis: "Face your destiny and release M'lady Watcher NOW!"
Darkness rolled quickly across the sea and came to the land of Listessa, finally stopping at the feet of the brave Lord. By starlight the two faced each other. The evil Marquis drew himself up to show his enormous power in an attempt to intimidate the gallent knight. But he only laughed. Enraged the Marquis raised his hideous claw and pointed to the countryside at Lord Mark's feet, "You shall not laugh so soon again I think." And with that fire scorched the earth and in an instant the brave knight was lost in a ball of fire.Screaming the watcher moved toward the battlefield horrified at her part in the destruction of her friend and the scarring of the beautiful land of Listessa. "Stop, oh please, no! Don't harm these gently citizens. STOP!" A sickening rumble of laughter rolled across to the crying girl who hung her head in defeat. "Come my child. We will leave this place now and return you to where you belong."
"Not so fast," came a voice, "I'm not as easy to get rid of as you think!" And in a blur came the gallant knight through the flames sword in hand. "En garde you miserable excuse for life," said the heroic knight as he jumped up from a roll in front of the hideous monster. "My, my little one you are becoming a nuisance." Pulling his sword down at Lord Mark but he parried the blow and the sounds of the Great Pumpkins came to the battlefield back and forth they exchanged blows until Lord Mark landed a devastating blow to the Marquis twisted side. "Hah!" Lord Mark cried, "that is for the pain you caused m'lady." Striking again at the beast, "and that is for the destruction of Listessa." But as he prepared to launch the final blow to the Maquis a tail unrolled from behind his hideous back and struck the knight on the head, knocking him unconscious.
Turning to the watcher then, the Marquis battered and bloodied looked at her and said, "its final now there will be no one left to interfere with us again. It is time that you realize that this is your destiny and you have no other choice, you cannot change it." In shock the watcher looked to the fallen hero and for the first time realized that it wasn't her fault. She wasn't to blame, the Marquis was, he was the one who had done this! Her poor friend had only wanted to help her and he had given his life for her. This must not be in vain she realized. "You are right Marquis, this must end and it must end NOW!"
Running quickly to her fallen friend she grabbed the sword and turned with all the anger and vengance within her that had been locked away for so long. "Yes I think it is time to end this, your evil can no longer be my master. Prepare to die." With all her might and convictions behind her she raised the sword above her head and swung at the startled Marquis. Quickly regaining his composure he deflected her blow. "Now, now my child what is this you do? You know that you cannot defeat me, you are nothing. Forget this foolishness and all will be forgiven."
"NO," she cried and dived at the heinous creature. The look in her eye and the energy with which she fought surprised the Marquis, stepping back to deflect her blow again he tripped and slipped backwards, quickly maneuvering she leveled the sword at his throat and prepared to deliver the death blow. "I could kill you now so easily, you have done nothing but hurt and destroy all my life, you do not deserve to live but I am not one to do evil, even to those as vile and disgusting as you. "Instead I hereby call on the Great Pumpkins to lend me thier powers!" And with that the light of all that's true came to her and she glowed. "You are hereby banished to wander in time and space powerless and weak, never to harm or return again!"
In an instant the Marquis was gone and the darkness lifted. Beautiful strains of the Great Pumpkins once again were heard by all as the land was restored to its former beauty.
Turning to her injured friend the watcher kneeled down beside him. As her tear struck his cheek he opened his eyes and looked up at her smiling he said, "well did we win?" and laughed weakly. Smiling she said, "yes we won, thank you so much for everything."
"That is what friends do for each other," he said carefully sitting up, "and that is what we are: friends." "Yes, friends." Smiling she helped him to stand and they began the journey back to rejoin the rest of Listessa.
Behind them as they walked away unaware, there was a quiet rumble of thunder barely audible about the Great Pumpkins...
