Later that night, Howie and A.J. walk into Angel, a popular nightclub in Canada. They find themselves a table right by the dance floor and sit down to wait.
A.J.: Do you see her?
Howie: No but that doesn’t mean she’s not here. Her best friend owns this place and when I called her from the plane, she said that she thought it was her night to keep an eye on things. So she could be in the back somewhere.
A couple minutes later, Howie gets impatient and decides to go look for her himself.
Howie: A.J., I’m going to go find her okay?
But A.J. isn’t listening. He’s too busy watching a girl on the dance floor.
Howie: A.J.!
A.J.: What?
He turns to look at Howie.
Howie: I’m going to go find Melissa. I’ll be back soon.
A.J.: Sure, whatever.
Howie gets up and walks away as A.J. instantly turns his attention back to that girl. Howie makes his way to the office in the back and opens the door. As luck would have it, the person he is searching for is inside sitting at a desk, her back to him. Howie quietly sneaks up behind her and covers her eyes with his hands.
Howie: Guess who?
Melissa: Howie!
She spins around, jumps up, and throws herself into his arms.
Melissa: How long have you been here?
Howie: Only a couple of minutes. I was kind of disappointed though that you weren’t out there waiting for me. I thought that maybe you weren’t that happy that I was coming.
Melissa: I couldn’t concentrate on anyone or anything because I was looking at the door every 5 seconds. So I decided to do some paperwork for Jill to pass the time until you got here.
Howie: So you did miss me?
Melissa leans back in his arms to look at him.
Melissa: What kind of question is that? Of course I missed you!
Howie: Prove it.
Melissa wastes no time in responding to his request. She slides her arms around his neck and kisses him deeply. Without parting their lips, Howie lifts Melissa up and carries her to the far side of the room. Not until they fall onto the couch, still wrapped in each other’s arms, does Melissa remember where they are. She pushes at Howie’s shoulders to get his attention.
Melissa: Howie, wait! We have to stop this!
Howie raises his head to look into her eyes and can tell that she doesn’t want to stop anymore than he does.
Howie: Why?
Melissa: Because we’re in Jill’s office, the door is unlocked, and I’m supposed to be working.
Howie: Jill won’t mind, I can lock the door, and I’m sure the club can survive by itself for awhile.
When Melissa still hesitates, Howie sits up and looks at her seriously.
Howie: It’s up to you. If you’re uncomfortable with this, we can walk out that door and go back to the club and save this for another time and place. Or I can go lock the door and we can forget about everyone else and just enjoy being back together.
Melissa considers this for a minute, while Howie gets up and walks over to the door.
Howie: Have you made your decision?
He has his hand over the lock, making it obvious which one he wants her to pick. Melissa doesn’t say anything. She just opens her arms to him. Howie grins and quickly locks the door before joining her on the couch.
