Chapter 3-Part I______________Who is God?
As I look around me what do I see, a world that is filled with perplexity!?Our modern civilization is coming to the realization that we have seen more devastation on a worldwide scale than the human race has experienced since the days of the Deluge. It would seem that the earth is responsible for the cataclysmic disasters which face us today. It would also seem that these disasters are growing in intensity and becoming more and more frequent. Only a blind, ignorant fool would dare to contest this issue. It is apparent that if things persist at the present rate of progression, there may not be much to look forward to on the horizon of mankind's future. Many have identified our planet as Mother Earth, therefore dismissing natural disasters as just the fickle temperament of a woman (i.e., Mother Nature). It is true that loss of life does tend to get one's attention. Therefore, it is obvious that the earth is trying to get mankind's attention albeit simply a puppet in the hands of an angry God. So, what is it that the earth is attempting to communicate to us? One thing is for certain, and that is that the message is of a very serious nature. It is obviously revealing that someone is pretty ticked off about something. In its wake of anger, the earth has left us with pain, misery, loss, and destruction. In the last decade we have experienced the effects of ozone depletion, causing giant holes in the canopy of natural protection against harmful radiation. This in turn has caused an increase in the number of skin cancer cases. The rain can't make up its mind whether to pass us by, leaving us in a drought, or to pour down so profusely that it causes disastrous flooding. In turn, there is the loss of life, homes, and property. To top it off, we now have a thing called acid rain which corrodes just about everything it touches. We are experiencing the continued increase of an infestation of pests. The med flies are destroying million dollar citrus crops. Crickets are increasing in such size and numbers that they are becoming uncontrollable, eating everything in their wake. And then come the killer bees which target human beings, leaving death behind their swarms. In much the same manner as ancient civilizations have experienced the anger of God, we have seen modern volcanic eruptions such as Mount Saint Helen's. On top of the devastation brought about by vomiting molten lava, the spew of ash into our atmosphere has created global temperature changes known as the greenhouse effect. And while all of this is going on, we have lunatics running around the countryside lighting uncontrollable fires in the name of Satan. These sweep across the open terrain, hills, and country being driven by fierce, dry "devil winds," devastating everything in their wake. Being of much greater intensity than normal, the firefighters have reported that these latest fires seem almost as if they were nuclear in nature. It would seem that all that can be done is to light back fires with the hope that the original fire will run out of fuel and eventually burn itself out. Then, of course, there's the increasing phenomena of earthquakes! Never in the history of the earth have so many earthquakes in such a short span of time been recorded. And contrary to our hopes, instead of diminishing, they are becoming more and more frequent as California awaits the big one. The present crisis is much greater in magnitude than people really want to face. Our building codes are supposed to be a set of safety standards which are for the purpose of preventing major disaster. Yet, our media even admits that no matter how strict the building codes are, nothing we have can really cope with the magnitude of power that an earthquake of 6.0 or greater can produce. All we can really do is prepare for the roller coaster ride as we helplessly watch the freeways crumble, buildings topple, and vehicles become crushed. As a result of such devastation there are power outages, water cut-offs, gas leaks, fires, derailed trains, chemical spills, and much more. This is not even mentioning the impending death toll. Weather patterns have changed so drastically that places which have rarely seen tornadoes are getting their homes uprooted into the air just like in "The Wizard of Oz." Roofs are torn off homes and flung like "Frisbees," and factory roofs as well, with just as much ease. Tornadoes can twist steel as it is were a wet noodle, as well as generate enough power to drive a straw completely through an oak tree. And when it wants to, the ocean rears its ugly head as it spits out Tsunami waves which can roll across dry land for miles as if it were simply an ocean bed. These leave nothing in their wake but destruction and death. As it drives toward the shoreline, boats and ships are destroyed as well. Such catastrophes create problems for an already struggling fishing industry. As the earth's population continues to grow, so does its hunger. Feeding a large percent of the masses is becoming more difficult, as the fishing isn't as abundant as it once was. The problems of our world are growing steadily and are increasingly complex. We are left in perplexity while the nations of the world experience: oil spills, Middle East wars, nuclear accidents, chemical warfare threats, economic upheaval, civil wars, plagues, famines, the outbreak of incurable diseases, the diminishing rainforest, and all of this going on at a time when politicians and world leaders are chanting "Peace and Safety!" This would seem to be a message of despair and hopelessness. One might venture to ask, where is God in all of this? There are those who assume that it is the earth that we must appease. Yes, the earth seems to be rebelling against the human race. It is in no way in conjunction with, or in submission to, our will or desires. Knowing this, we should go to its Creator for the answers. Instead, we have slapped away the Creator's helping hand, and in doing so have been left to fend for ourselves. We have not been left as orphans, but rather have been left to our own devices. God is like the patient parent who knows to let the inevitable take its course. When the circumstances permit, the child will eventually turn to the parent for help. In much the same way, God's creation is taking its course. Considering what we have been responsible for doing to the earth, we really deserve what is happening to us. It's like as if someone was going for a malicious walk through the woods and came across a hornet's nest. In their mischief, they proceeded to pick up a stick and investigate the hornets by poking holes in the nest, blowing cigarette smoke into it, then attaching a pack of firecrackers and lighting them. Of course its inhabitants would become very upset and instantly retaliate by attempting to sting the living daylights out of the aggressor. There are very few people who would question the fact that such an aggressor would deserve the wrath of the hornets. So also with the earth! It would appear that as a result of our mistreatment of the natural laws of the earth and of God, civilization has become the target of mass destruction. Throughout history there have been examples of whole civilizations that were destroyed by natural cataclysmic catastrophes. The real question is, Why? And, will mankind ever learn from history? Archeologists are constantly unearthing ruins upon ruins which clearly support this phenomenon. These ancient civilizations usually have some basic common factors. They have in their midst religious temples to their gods and goddesses. These usually include figurines, implements, and tools for their magical practices and mysterious rites. Even though many would rather dismiss the idea, it would seem that human sacrifice appears to be a reoccurring theme amongst may of the largest and even most powerful dynasties. Most of modern society shudders at the thought of human sacrifice. May of these same individuals are they which hypocritically offer up their unborn children upon the modern alters of Molech and Baal, which are situated in the midst of the neighborhood abortion clinics. There seems to be a major interest in the renewal of the pagan practices and belief systems of these ancient civilizations. There is strong desire to absorb them into our present day culture. It should stand to reason that if they were destroyed for their detestable practices, then why would we dare to follow in their footsteps. What are we, crazy? Suicidal maniacs just inviting the same demise to be perpetrated upon civilization as we know it? This time may not be a localized devastation but rather one of immense proportion. This is evident by the fact that the problems which we face are worldwide in their scope. As the problems grow in intensity, so do mankind's religious aspirations. In a human attempt to appease the conscience, we have redefined God. There are those who profess that God is some incomprehensible it, or a power that can be tapped into at will. If this is the case, then it would appear that somebody shorted out the system. Others claim that God is what comprises the universe or the heavens, and that the earth is the Mother Goddess. If this were the case, then we are in bigger trouble than we thought. The universe is winding down or wearing out (entropy), and the earth is in revolt against the human race, trying to shake them like fleas. If the earth doesn't get us first, then the universe eventually will as the sun goes supernova and the next black hole appears smack dab in the center of our solar system sucking the rubble of what's left into its empty void. This would, of course, put an end to rebellion permanently! The earth is a very complex planet and we have yet to fully understand it. In our endeavor to reach out into space, we have neglected to discover the mysteries that are hidden under our own oceans. There are those who feel that the earth is alive. Just below its crust is a complex network of veins that pump molten liquids in much the same way that the human body pumps blood under its layer of skin. Being a part of the material realm, this so called "living entity" known as earth, is also subject to the laws of life and death. Contrary to popular notions, the earth is dying (entropy) just like us humans. As a result, it is our natural tendency to focus our attention upon the spiritual realm instead of the material. This is where mankind's subconscious reaches for hope! We do know that in theory it is possible for more than one dimension to co-exist with our material realm. Being separate and distinct, these dimensions could exist totally unaware of the other's existence. The Bible does describe a dimension of existence known as the spirit realm. While the material world is totally oblivious to its existence, the spirit world is very aware and interactive with the material. Since what we see is only a small part of total existence, it would therefore be foolish to exclaim that what is in the material realm is the manifestation of a god or goddess. What kind of a God would be limited to being contained in a finite universe? This would be a small god indeed! Furthermore, as we explore the beginnings of our existence or cosmology, we find that the recent evidence points to the conclusion that our universe at some point had a beginning. In fact, the field of cosmology itself is based upon theory and not fact. Therefore, it cannot be substantiated. This is the plight of the role of physics. The more one learns, the more one finds that our existence is an illusion. According to the evidence, we should not exist. Our very existence is a contradiction of the laws of physics, and there are really no constants in the universe. Research has also concluded that the universe as we know it is expanding. Expansion of the universe implies that it must have had a beginning. While exploring this issue, Einstein postulated his steady state theory. While on his death bed, he admitted this to be his biggest mistake. He had introduced a fudge factor because he did not want to face the inevitable conclusion. That is, if the universe had a beginning, then who started it? In order for one to face this conclusion, they must logically assume the existence of God being responsible for this beginning. As Genesis Verse One states..."In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth..." ?In every ancient myth, legend, and manuscript there is some sort of reference to a Creator, albeit many are very creative in their imaginations as well. Our physicists refer to this beginning as "the big bang." In postulating this theory, it has been concluded that in order for life to exist, there had to be a split second of an unknown force or anti-matter introduced at the time of explosion. This force had to have been so precise in its calculation, timing, and power that any deviation would have altered the atomic structure so as not to have produced the essential elements needed to sustain life as we now know it. This brings us back to the ongoing validity of the Bible which tells us that this force was God. So, who is God? This question strikes at the hearts of every religious practice and mystical belief system in existence. Being quite ancient, the foundations of these diverse beliefs were in existence further back than the writings of Moses, the Prophets, on through the days of Jesus, and John's book of Revelation. This has led skeptics to discount these teachings. Since the Bible addresses the fundamental issues head-on, it could be surmised that it was written in response to the pagan practices and teachings. Being inspired by God, many of the biblical authors go further back than the complex beginnings of our earthly existence. As specific awareness advances, we are finding that the Bible is amazingly accurate in its definition of terms. It could be said that science does not prove the Bible, but rather the Bible proves science. That's not bad for a group of ancients that were unlearned in science as well as physics. In fact, when one compares the biblical teachings with ancient myth, one will find that myth evolves from the preposterous to the hardly believable. Rarely does it align itself with scientific truth. The Bible is comprised of 66 books written by approximately 40 separate authors who lived at different times throughout history, and each were from diverse circumstances. Following human tradition, these should all conflict with one another. The one most important factor which ties all these together is that each of them agree on one basic principle, that is?who God is! In fact, this is one criteria that is required in order to gain acceptance in the biblical canon of scripture. In view of these circumstances, it has been concluded that the Bible really only has one author?the Holy Spirit. From cover to cover, there is evidence of only one personality as He uncovers mysteries through the use of the same idioms throughout. These clues always point to and reveal who God is, namely Jesus Christ. This is the person who is being revealed in every book of the Bible in one form or another. To not believe in Jesus Christ only keeps one from the true revelation of biblical mysteries. To eliminate the person of Jesus Christ from the biblical message is to blind one's understanding of its truth. So, does disbelief change the validity of the Bible? No, because disbelief only changes one's thought and not the facts. If a spirit were to materialize itself before a person and reveal secrets, and then that person decided to share the experience with a friend, but the friend questioned the validity of it in an expression of disbelief, would that friends disbelief change the fact that the experience was real to the person that had it? Of course not! Such a one would probably continue life as usual in hopes that some day their friend could personally experience the same type of manifestation. This is what the Bible can do for us! It can reveal secrets and mysteries of the most glorious manifestation ever as one steps from this world in to the spirit realm with just the flip of a page. One can transcend from the earthly into the heavenlies by just reading and believing that it is the Word of God. The Holy Spirit searches the earth to find those willing enough to exercise such faith. But there are those who would rather consider this to be an act of what they call blind faith. For these people, it takes something a little more substantial in order for them to believe that the Bible is much more than fables written by mankind. It is for these individuals that God has gone to great lengths in substantiating His Word as having originated from Himself rather than the human endeavor. As we will discuss in Chapters 9 and 10, the Bible maps out the future as if it were written through a perspective that is outside of the time domain. Each fulfillment of prophecy adds to the validity that the Bible is the Word of God. For He alone knows the end from the beginning. . .
