Audrey and Rachel meet in 7th grade when a mutual friend informed the two that they both had something in common, their love for the funk band, The Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Soon after Rachel is introduced to Audrey's cousin and best friend Lulu (Laura). They shared a love of music that lead them to pick up intruments and begin writing their own songs (Rachel: vocals/guitar, Audrey: good guitar, Lulu: bass). They start an all-girl punk band called Muddy and set out looking for a drummer. Enter Rachel Bookbinder, kickass drummer and close friend of the Pinks, the girls meet Rachel Bookbinder at a "Riot Girl" festival in a church basement in Cambridge where the meeting ends up consisting of (pre-Lilith Fair) girl acoustic bands and an ex-stripper sex educator,.. hmm,.. Anyhow Muddy moves on to create a demo tape with a new singer and the girls graduate from high school. Rachel and Audrey move to California for a summer, make a movie and move back. The girls reunite and hit the road with Mudhoney, The Kent 3 and Nebula.
Inspired by their new friends, The Fuzzy Pinks are born! They start writing songs and record in N.Attleboro, MA with A&R Rep. extrodinaire Mr.Ethan Dessault. The first song, "Good As Gone" is released on the Expansion 6 Compilation on Naked Ear Records from MassCom in December of '99 after the girls write, practice, and preform with new drummer Amy Biz.
Amy joined the band after drum auditions were held in Waltham, MA in the fall of '99. With her hard-hitting style and Go-Go's look (just like Jane), she fit right into the group. (Amy's section of the page will be added shortly to "Members" and "Facts")
The Fuzzy Pinks are currently writing and preforming out of Boston, MA and will enter the studio to record a full-length in February. A single release of "Good As Gone" is scheduled for late winter/early spring.
