Studio Notes & Comments: Another song where I had laid down the basic musical track for the song and Jimmy came along and transformed it with his lyrical interpretation. I wasn't 100% certain as to whether the song was really going anywhere or not, but once we started working with it and got the vocals down, we decided we liked this a lot! An acoustic-dominated instrumental intro leads in a 1st chorus, before the drums and electric guitar take the song into a rockier treatment of the initial theme and the song ends in a double-time heavy metal mode, with double bass drums and staccato power chords. This was the first song to really benefit from the "cheating" possibilities provided by the Akai studio :) Jimmy's first take on the chorus vocals was so spot-on that we figured the remaining two choruses probably would not be as good. This was easy to fix with the DPS12.......using the drum track as a guide and using the waveform readout of the individual tracks, we were able to neatly mark the first recording of the chorus vocals and copy/paste them into exactly the right position for the other two choruses. So easy! (and the best thing is...you can't "hear the join"!).
