Studio Notes & Comments: A simply structured and catchy little number that started out as a Sixties-sounding pop offering, but ended up with a more contemporary feeling once the arrangement was finished. The lyrics are inspired by the classic American "rebel youth" theme of the neighbourhood trouble-maker......but somewhat amusingly transposed to a distinctly British setting (the anti-hero terrorising the area not in a Cadillac, but an old Morris Minor!!). Musically this was interesting, as the whole song was originally built around a guitar picking pattern that we eventually dropped altogether. The rhythm guitars are all pristine-clean sounding, with a simple & driving bass/drum backbeat underneath. The vocals come under the style description of "giving it some stick"......it took major tea-therapy to put Jimmy's throat back in order after we had finished doing the (several) vocal takes! It was fun for me in the end, as I got to put loads of lead guitar all over the place. This also had a distinctly modern tone to it, which counterbalanced the more "retro" sound of the track. It's the sort of song that you will probably end up humming to yourself once you've heard it :-)
