Studio Notes & Comments:This song was largely written in the studio, during an Easter weekend session. Jimmy had a chord sequence and a few lyrics written, but after working in on together for a day, we came up with a completed song. Essentially a fairly simple mid-tempo ballad with a bluesy, laid-back feel and featuring the acoustic guitar as the main instrument. As usual, the drum programming took forever, but everything else came together quite easily. Apart from the acoustic guitar/vocals, there is some lazy, blues lead guitar on the bridge and outro sections (using the Gibson Paul and POD Matchless Chieften amp model to get the right feel) and a bit of whistling on the intro! There is a slightly schizophrenic break before the outro, with a much heavier feel and some considerably wilder lead guitar (Ibanez RGR570 and Mesa-Boogie amp model).
We were very happy with the sound on this one; the lead guitar tones (POD), the acoustic guitar and vocal sounds (MB4000C mic) and the overall quality (Akai studio) were all "just what we wanted". We also made full use of the Akai's capabilities, for copying and pasting vocal and acoustic guitar segments, removing the drum track from certain segments and even for removing a whole bar of unwanted gap between a chorus and verse (all pretty much impossible with our previous set-up).
