I'm back to Barcelona after two very hard days of driving,cold and good feeling!!!!.
The first show was in Pau at Zenith (nice place).Xavi Vilaseca and I we met on the doors with the 3 boys (Xavi Martori, who arrives from a long Sting tour in the north,Xavi Gascon and Miquel Martinez).This is the funny team who toured this time the south of France.Uhmmm I miss the Queen of the Queen's ,STINA who arrived from Madrid the first and that she was the first to go in the venue.
The show is the same as many people report on the other French shows, nothing new,Cheb Mami was on the stage with STING on Desert Rose (I like very much) and the set list was the same,nothing new aparently.The songs sound very well,but the versions are in my honest opinion with more power in other Tours,specially "7 Days","Little Thing","Breath.." and "When The world".As I report in Toulouse,the show was better in the 2nd night.
The venue was sold finally..but is not a big place near 4.500-5000 people.The Sting show was the nş457 of the Pau Zenith and some one this night was the nş 1.000.000..and in the middle of the show,STING and some one of the Zenith venue give the nş of the winner.STING try to say the nş in French-Spanish!!!...nobody understand the winner.Who is?????.
We take a look at the MERCHANDISING and he looks nice but to expensive!!!!.(STINA take one item of each and she spend all the money!!!!.but Stina is STINA).
The sound was great,and the musicians are great..but..nothing like the past!!!!.The backing vocals are not the Scream team..now is formed for a duet (boy and girl) that I don't like ,I don't know who decided to take this team on the show!!!..
And nothing more!!!!,just a good show in a nice day with great friends!!!!.
It's Toni again with another review,now is time to talk about the Toulouse show!!!..Uhmm..I have more things to expaling about that show!!!.
We take direction to Toulouse and in the middle of the route we stoped to make a report for Catalunya Radio.I call to Jordi Tardà and we talk about 15 minutes about the Pau show and the report was supported with live music from L.A. show 1999.
We start again to arrive at the city to take a dinner near to the centre.Toulouse is a nice place,I like very much and he has a nice square called Le Capitole with many Restaurants,Hotels and a good parking.Just arrive we go to take a pizza near to the Le GRAND HOTEL DE L'OPERA...and who was there???.Sting and his band.I know that, because is the third time that I was there and every time I met him .
Just finish to stop the car and go out of the parking take direction to the Pizza Restaurant,STING,Dominic and Kipper leave the hotel and we met in front.We talk with Dominic and Kipper and Sting atended some French fans who are inside the Hotel and he follow .Was very funny,because nobody recognise STING when he cross the big square and he takes a place at More Cafe.NOBODY!!!!!.
We have oportunity to talk with Dominc about "Flamenco" and he remember that we bring him, some good CD's from Spanish guitarrist.
After this met we take direction to the Pizza Restaurant and we are side by side of the square but we control STING,Dominc and Kipper from the window.NOBODY recongnise STING during one hour.They return to the hotel at time to take the cars and take direction to the NEW ZENITH for the soundcheck.
Before the band's leave the Hotel,Xavi and I we take a walk for the garden of the hotel and we go inside and we met with all. They are paying the rooms, leaving the key room and we take this time to make some pictures with STING and some autograph.I give him my picture singing in Montpellier and he take a look at the picture, and after he take a look to my face and he say..Oh..yeah..in Montpellier!!!.He singned the picture and the new BND cd and we take a picture together.During this time, Xavi worked very hard with Dominic the oportunity to be at the venue to see the soundcheck..but he say that is not in his hands!!..
After this..the band take direction to the Zenith for a long soundcheck and the show.Xavi and I we talk around the square and we talk about the met and we take direction to a French dealer who aparently are waiting for me..but that finally was out .
To be at the new Zenith....we take 3 hours...we are lost 4 times..and we spend 35 F.F. with auto route peaje!!!. Finally,we arrived at time to see the show but not to met my good friends Didier Gonnet and Fabien Barral who are waiting me !!!.I'm very sorry...but I take a look after the show..and I don't find you!!!.
Another funny sitaution was before the show,the "Kipper" walk arround the people and nobody recognise him!!!.
What about the show???...uhmmm..nothing new,but I feel more passion and some new arrengements in "If I Ever Lose",a best and hard version of "Roxanne" and "When The World" and another great and incredible version of "Desert Rose" with and excellent Cheb Mami!!!.Mercie bien Cheb!!!!.Great voice of STING during the shows,specially in "Moon Over..".uhmmm I miss to say that STING make two mistakes during "All this Time" and "If I ever"...
The show was great in general..but...as I told in other times...I don't like very much the set list and the band ,in my honest opinion is not the same as the other bands.
After the show I met with Nick Sholem who was near to me during the show and he give me the set list with all the light changes and was very happy that I talk with him!!he was very surprised to say that we come from Barcelona and he give me good look to come back to BCN.Thanks Nick!!!see you in Barça!!!.
Sorry for my poor English..but I consider better to writte these two reports in bad English that in Catalan!!!!.
