I can't believe it myself, but guess what??? I MET STING TODAY!!!! And Ross sang with him AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK, again, it is late, so no details (later), but first in the afternoon, Bill and I went to Carnegie Hall for the recital. It was amazing.....we sat down in this little recital hall, and in a few minutes, there comes Sting and Trudie walking down the aisle, right by where we're sitting. He looked gorgeous (and so did Trudie). I got up after he was seated and gave him flowers (I was afraid I wouldn't be able to see him after!) and told him I was at the show last night, and wanted him call me tonight. He looked at me and shrugged and said, It's random, believe me, it's better that way, if it's random." OK, so Bill and I shook his hand, then went back to our seats. In a minute, I got up again and said I was sorry to bother him (he and Trudie were enjoying a little laugh), but would it be ok if at intermission, I got a quick photo with him. I think he thought I was asking for one right then, as the show was about to start, I got a look that can only be described as utter disgust, and he said, "Later! Later!" (Very reminiscent of "piss off!" and "Come back later!" from the CD Rom.) I was so torn, but I wanted a picture so badly. Anyway, after the show, he posed with me for a picture (I had my arm around him, and we were walking down the aisle), and Bill was using my camera, and my damn flash wouldn't go off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Talk about a missed opportunity!!!!! ARGH!!!!!! Sting goes, "hurry up, I'm on my way to the soundcheck!" But, luckily, Bill took one quick with his camera that at least has both of us in it, I can't wait to see it! Then he ran out, and we walked down, and there was Trudie just hanging out in the lobby. I got a nice photo of Bill and Trudie (and I think one of her kids--they brought 2 beautiful blue-eyed little girls.) She was very friendly, needless to say friendlier than him.
The show (Carnegie) was amazing--he did 3 songs, Someone to Watch over me, My one and only love, and LYSBYP. Just him and Ken Helman (sp?) on the first 2 songs, and then guess what--he calls his special guest Kenny Kirkland to play for soul. I was so moved, I cried throughout the whole thing, particularly for Soul since he told us that it was inspired by Ken Helman (?) who is battling AIDS. He said the difference b/t pity and courage is pity includes fear and courage includes compassion.
Anyway, then the show tonight, Ross gets called again using the same big sign!!!!!!!!!! I had really close seats, and I was jumping up and down in front of him on my seat and he never looked at me!!!! Bummer! Anyway, Ross gets up there and tells us all that he is here with 3 friends, says where they're from (Scotland, Seattle, and Paris), and then thanked me for being a great host!!!!!!! It was very thrilling!
I will let him tell you all the rest of the details, I am off to dream about meeting Sting and putting my arm around him....
