It is now after Sunday night's show. No surprises of course, but the show was excellent, so far the best of the three. One thing was different tonight, Kenny has been singing the 2nd verse (When the doctors fail to heal you...) of LYSBYP, and tonight Sting sang echoing what Kenny was singing. I liked it very much. Also, one funny thing that Kenny has been doing comes at the end of Lithium Sunset, he sings "Rescue me" like that old motown song (Aretha, I think!)
Anyway, the other exciting thing tonight was that even though Sting did not pick me or anyone from our list to sing with him, he did read my sign (it said "CHOOSE A STAR FOR ME!") and also Benjamin's sign, and even though I met him yesterday, it was still a thrill to hear him read my sign. I was acknowledged!!!
I developed my pix from yesterday's show, and they came out pretty good. Not as close as I thought they would look, but I will scan a couple of them for all to see. Of course the nice picture with Sting and me I never got (see below) , but Bill gave me the picture he took of us anyway. Sting is looking away from me and I am smiling the biggest grin you've ever seen.
Also, it was great to meet yet another member of the list tonight, DCSting (Don). Did you make your bus back Don???
Oh, BTW, Beefsteak Charlie's was a disaster and I will never eat there again. It worked out well for Fri night, but Saturday night was terrible and they told me they were canceling my reservation for Sunday!!!! I told them I would never even consider eating there again anyway, it was pretty funny.
Now I have 2 awful days of getting through work before I go to the last Sting show on this tour.
Oh, I almost forgot, Bill, Ross, Jeremy, and Ben were sitting close to Trudie tonight, and she signed the picture I took of Bill and her. She looked even more beautiful tonight than yesterday at Carnegie Hall, wearing a skimpy little black number.
Also BTW, Miles has been there every night (although I did not see him tonight). Bill got his autograph last night.
I will try to be short and to the point since just about everything about these shows has been said already. I attended Sunday nights show (with the help of fellow list members Allison and Bill) and it was great. I saw Sting twice this summer and I think this was the best show of the three. He did mention that this was the 199th show of the tour so they should have it to perfection by now. Unfortunately, I missed the Hounds of winter because one of the people I was with had to go to the bathroom (only kidding Ali).
Highlights of the show for me were LYSBYP (I thought Kenny did a great job on vocals), IYLSSTF, the acoustic version of YSTM, Mad About You and Demolition Man. I also missed Fragile because I had to catch an 11:00 bus. So I was consistent, I missed the first and last songs.
For I'm so Happy, Sting brought up a history teacher and another gentleman. (Ali, I thought it was going to be your big chance when he read your sign, but I guess not. Maybe Wed night.) I thought the history teachers crack about us still having a Queen was funny. The gentleman that was called up told a very moving story about how in 1991 he was diagnosed with cancer and how he felt listening to the Soul cages album helped him get through the ordeal of radiation and chemo therapy. He thanked Sting for writing the album. I think Sting was moved by his story.
Well so much for me being short and sweet. All in all, it was a great show and if any of you can still make it to NY for Tues or Wed nights show, you should definitely do it. You won't be disappointed.
In closing I would again like to thank Bill for the great seat and Allison for all her help in getting me there and her great hospitality. It was also great meeting Jeremy and Ross in person. Congrats again to Ross for getting up on stage a 2nd time. Great meeting Alison's friend Steve and lets see, I think I have acknowledged and thanked just about everyone. I feel like I just won a grammy or something with all my thank yous and acknowledgements.
