Royal Albert Hall - London, England

by Elke & Volker Kulms on April 7, 2000

OK, OK - I'm tired from work but I will give a shrot rewiev of the concert. I can't tell you much about how many mistakes they made and if they played slightly different arrangemments. This was a exiting concert because I was waiting for the end! hey, thats not 100% true, I really enjoyed it, but I SAT THERE WITH A BACKSTAGE PASS!

We waited for Sting at the artist enterance of the RAH -Markus and the 3 dutch girls whose names I can't remember, Martin and his girlfriend, their friend Jutta and last but not least my good ole pal Jost with whom I have made the long trip to London ...and its REALLY long if you travel by bus and ferry from Germany!

We stood there, waiting for the man when 2 people came out, one turned back to us and asked: "er, do you need this?" and handed us 2 backstage stickers. Jutta and I stood nearby, so we got them.

We sticked then on and wandered aroud in the empty hall, but nothing exiting was happening, in the meantime Sting entered the building and we missed him...

So we planned to meet backstage after the show to see what was going on then Jost and I took our seats (up in the balcony) but after the first hour of the Sting show I sticked my pass on and went up to the front of the stage to watch the 2nd half from the 3rd row, standing. this night the first 2 rows jumped up after the first notes of the first song, so there was no way for the secs to put them all back to place. during ELTSDIM lots of people stood up and ran to the stage.

A funny story during the concert was a letter Sting read to the audience. a person, who saw the first 2 nights, complained that sting was turning to the audience on the left hand of the stage more than to those on the right hand although they had all paid the same amount of money. the explanation was: there was this guitarrist in his way to the right hand. so sting asked dominic to increase his ass-shaking to HIS side of the stage.

After the show I managed to give Sting a CD from my friend and get an autograph (which he signed ,but he looked at me as if he wanted to say "why do you ask me HERE for an autograph?"), backstage, it was more like a kind of family and friends party. we had to go for the last train so I gave my pass to those who were waiting outside to get a glimpse of this, too!

Sorry to say, I'm really tired now, hope you enjoyed this small rewiev.

P.S. For the Dominic fans: they had big posters hanging in one backstage room, showing Dominics face, obviously sleeping in the tour-bus or somewhere else wish his eyes shut and mouth open.

Signed with the following: HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOMINIC, FOR YOUR 50th BIRTHDAY!
