Royal Albert Hall - London, England

by Jeremy on April 6, 2000

Just back from another show at the Albert Hall, and tonight was very special. No changes at all to the set, no real changes to the arrangements but the Camera's were rolling and Sting didn't disappoint. The set list was as follows and I will make notes of any changes or comments as I go.

When I got all my tickets for the Albert Hall, I had more or less front row for every night, except for tonight. Tonight's tickets said 7th row so I was a little pissed that on the night they were filming I was not at the front.....but........but......... well due to the filming...er........ummmm.

THE 7 TH ROW WAS THE FRONT ROW TONIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ie:

CAMERA'S UP MY NOSE ALL NIGHT

The audience was pretty mellow tonight at the beginning, with Paul, Andy, Me and Mrs Edinburgh (Where is your ticket ??) being the only ones standing. Sort of embarrassing really..... just don't turn around.... it makes it easier.

  1. 1000 -years only thing of note here was that right at the end when sting goes into the on and on part they screwed up..... I have seen him like 20 odd times this tour and tonight was the first with three mistakes...other than the Vegas shows which don't count as they were the warm up shows.
  2. Set them free
  3. After the rain has fallen - I love this song, I find myself listening to it all the time, especially where the key changes going into the last chorus.... how sad am I ?
  4. We'll be together
  5. Perfect love.... gone wrong ...Requiem for Andy...

Sting talked for a few minutes, said hi to sky TV etc

  1. All this time - I love this also..... really love it actually......
  2. Mad about you - excellent tonight...
  3. Seven days - Manu had a little fun tonight, and Sting is singing it a little different tonight also, but I still prefer watching paint dry.
  4. I'm so happy - BJ still in attendance, was quite good tonight...although it seems to quieten the place down a little.
  5. Fill her up - wailed tonight...... us leaping up and down lots etc...... by ourselves..... the 5 loonies at the front.
  6. Fields of Gold - Sting brought out the lead singers from Sepultura and Iron maiden to sing along..... er...yea.... right... umm
  7. Every little thing she does is tedious - well at least it woke the audience who finally came to visit us at the front
  8. Moon over bourbon street - a few mistakes tonight
  9. Tomorrow we'll see -Botti is still trying to keep up with Sting at the end, but he should know that he cant win as Danny holds the button down until Botti passes out with lack of oxygen.
  10. Englishman in New York - Manu seemed to think it was a drum solo tonight, so it was very good.
  11. Brand New Day - I even enjoyed this tonight.... there I said it.... you happy now ..
  12. Roxanne - Wailed again..... big sing a long.... and even the wee mini cheb came out on his wee Darbouka thingy.
  13. Desert Rose (with Cheb...and his wee pal on the darbouka) Excellent version again tonight, with Cheb getting a very extended sing out at the end, normally he gets about 5 seconds , but tonight he got about 17 minutes... or maybe about 15 seconds
  14. Bring on the night / When the world is running on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on......
  15. Lose my faith - I am still enjoying this..., and , and well that's about all I have to say about that (Forrest Gump style)
  16. Every breath you take - Excellent tonight...how I still love this song. I even listen to the original all the time... just close to the end with the Every step you take..... and every move you make (I love the part where the Violins kick in..... heaven..... does anybody really care what I think though.... hello ?....echo.....
  17. Message in a bottle - There is always a drunken Italian that shouts e oooo half way through...and Sting always laughs as if expecting it...well tonight the drunken fellow was right beside me....
  18. Fragile - Was fragile like.... Sting seemed to be concentrating a lot on the solo as the Camera's were all over him at this point....

Tomorrow we are going to TFI Friday to watch sting play After the rain has fallen, and then to the Albert Hall for night ten.... in the front row again..... I almost felt guilty about all the good tickets today and nearly.....nearly......walked up to a few very excited fans and just gave them the tickets as it is such a treat to be in the front row but then a combination of sanity, selfishness and Paul grabbing the tickets out of my hand stopped me from doing it. Tonight there was a good number of the clan, but sadly missed tonight were Debs, Benjamin, Karel, Ross, Bill, The Italian Bee's, LJB, LGG, LJG....

Thanks for coming, thanks for listening, god bless ...we'll see you er...tomorrow....

P.S. Why am I the only one writing reviews here.....?
