Well the ten nights sadly came to an end tonight, but not until after a truly wonderful day had transpired. I woke up late, and after many good luck experiences I made it to the Riverside studios on time. If there is a god (And if I believed in such things) then he/she/it was looking down upon us today. The recording of TFI Friday went very smoothly after Paul, Jane, Linda, Tina, Wanda, Christophe and his friends all spent a few hours in the TFI Bar getting ourselves well lubricated for the afternoons proceedings.
Sting played two songs, and also did an interview, also on the show were Puffy Daddy...and Eagle eye cherry, and actor Leslie Neilson...this was a bonus as he is a god walking as man.... hilarious..... well actually on the show he wasn't, but in his films he is....
Sting played Desert Rose with Cheb and Mini Cheb, and I can now confirm that Mini Cheb is the same wee mini Cheb that was in New York..... Sting then went and answered questions upstairs with the Carrot and then came down and played After the rain has fallen..... was a very good version, and it cuts off early at the end...not sure if the single edit will end the same way or not..
We (Paul and I) then went for food , and then went for more food with Tina, Linda and Jane... had a great desert thing that I can't pronounce.
And then the show...
Cheb Mami opened the show tonight, this was a first for the Albert Hall shows.
Sting talked about various things not interesting..... and seems to be using the breath / voice saver a lot tonight...every song he seemed to want it....why doesn't he just brush his teeth like the rest of us ?
He said that he really appreciated all we had done for helping him have his dream... he actually looked very sincre...
At the end when they were all lined up, Stings son Giacomo come out and was wandering around the stage looking bewildered ...shaking hands with everyone....quite cute.... and Sting came and grabbed him and gave him a big kiss as he carried him offstage under his arm.
Well after a lot of good luck, 5 nights in the front row, and really nice experiences with a lot of lovely people I have to reflect and say what an excellent 2 weeks. Paul I wish to thank for the Many Vodka and oranges, Debs I had a great time with you in the hotel (don't go there !) Steph it was excellent to meet you at last and hopefully our paths will cross again. Benjamin I hope to see you again soon you were missed, Bill despite our rough week you were missed also, and I hope we can get back to where we were before, I apologise for my part in it all. Karel my dear friend you should have been here. Ross my very dear friend I miss you aside from the sting concerts, I miss our friendship and hope that one day we can live in the same city again and do the things that we used to do....Martin V.... We'll be together in Nimes.
To all those that don't travel to shows I recommend that you do, I have met some absolutely lovely wonderful people, and built some close friendships, we can all be sad sting fans together... actually Karel and I are very close now and we dont even talk about Sting anymore... god I am talking a load of shit tonight.... ramble ramble ramble....
