Blockbuster-Sony Entertainment Center - Camden, New Jersey, United States

STING Camden, NJ 6/25/00

Rushed to get there by 8:00 only to discover that the opening band and some fireworks meant Sting on stage at 10pm. So I had to wait outside for a couple hours before getting press credentials. Got 3.5 songs of shooting time because he turned the 3rd song into a medley. Wow! I'll send some pics to Stingchronicity for the photo section probably next week. To see my '96 Camden pics, go to : Stingchronicity site.

Anyway, the show, the show!

Stage arrangement slightly different. Kipper on top stage right. One backup singer.

Funny how the list seemed an awful lot like before, but it worked a hell of a lot better in a larger setting, imho. Surprising that the only modifications that he made to the show from 1 venue type to the other was doing away with the anecdotes.

But the songs were a lot tighter than when he swung by this part of the woods in November. And it was a great time.

Can't say I was totally fond of a new bridge arrangement thing during Roxanne, but there was still a party going on in my head the whole song through.

And CHEB. Freakin Cheb Mami was on stage for Desert Rose. A special treat for us Philadelphians.

What else? Right before the stage bows, Sting and Kipper were on stage right waving and Sting was joking around with Kipper and backhanded him on the ass. Goofy.

And that's about it. I was still at the place when they were breaking down the stage. Interesting as hell that the back wall of the stage was the loading dock to get the equipment out fast.

That, of course, led to thoughts about the Lititz, PA company doing the equipment stuff and why Sting is wrapping up his tour in Hershey, PA just minutes from Lititz...

2:52am

Good night, god bless, thank you for coming, and I'll see you again,

Just got back from the concert. My voice is pretty much gone and I am dead tired so I am not really posting much except for the set list. Sting looked wonderful, same outfit as the today show. The concert didnt start until 10:05 pm due to fireworks on the Philadelphia waterfront to celebrate the arrival of the tall ships. I got the set list from the audio guys and Message is listed before Fragile but he didnt sing it. Also, there was practically no banter with the crowd at all besides the "Hi Philly" and "Thank yous".

Opening Act- Jeffrey Gaines- I didnt not like him at all, I thought all his songs sounded the same but then again I am working on about 4 hours sleep.

10:05pm- start time

  1. A Thousand Years
  2. If you Love Somebody
  3. After the Rain( lead Into)
  4. We'll be Together
  5. Perfect Love Gone Wrong -Manu Rapping
  6. All This Time
  7. Seven Days
  8. Fill Her Up
  9. Fields of Gold
  10. Every Little Thing
  11. Moon Over Bourbon Street
  12. Tommorrow we'll See
  13. Englishman in NY
  14. Brand New Day
  15. Roxanne
  16. Desert Rose- With Cheb ( a little surprising!)
  17. Bring on the night, WTWIRD

11:35 pm

ENCORE 1

  1. If I ever Lose My Faith In You
  2. Every Breath

11:45pm

ENCORE 2

  1. Fragile

Did anybody else who attended notice the last set change (orange curtain) made the stage look like a high school stage? I was waiting for him to belt out a tune from Oklahoma. I am getting punchy die to lack of sleep.

It was a great concert for an opening night set. I bought a poster and had it stolen from me. Somebody asked me to see the back of my Sting shirt , I put my food down and my poster to hold up the shirt and off they went with my poster. I was not a happy camper. I am really beat so sorry this isnt the words greatest review.

I went to the Camden show last night and it was a blast!! I really lucked out and got great seats at the last minute. I was in pit row 2, which there was no row in front of us, so I really had front row!! It was such as great experience. I went with a friend of mine who started chatting with the security guards right as soon as we got there! I really wanted to give Sting a rose, but they would not allow me to personally had it to him, no matter how much we joked around with the guards, they just placed it on the stage for him. Sting sounded great, the band was excellent. I love Chris Botti's trumpet playing! Well, take care....looking foward to the PNC show on tuesday!

I was at the show with some friends - Sec. 103, row T. It was great!!!! I snuck up to the front pit during the encores. I saw him the day before at the Today Show, up close and personal!!!!!! So what did you think of the show? I'm going to the PNC Bank Arts Center on Tuesday to see him again....

I was at the show last night. It was great!

I didn't really care for Jefferey Gaines. He played for about an hour. It seemed like hours. But at least he wasn't obnoxious.

Then Studmuffin Sting came out around 10 looking wonderful as usual! His voice was strong and the entire band sounded really great! Although I really wish he would add a few suprises to the set. He did the same exact numbers, practically in the same order as he did in November.

I met Denise Saunders from Philadelphia's KYW 3 news. She walked by w/her big pretzel and I yelled to her'Hey Denise-KY3." She was really nice and came over and made a little chit chat and said " Hi, How are you doing. Are you all ready for Sting? I've been ready since 8:30. Enjoy the show." She was really personal and friendly. She was talking to me like we were old friends. She was a real sweet lady.

And MILES COPELAND has got to be the most ignorant jerk in the entire planet. I heard that he was a jerk but now I know first hand how BIG a jerk he is. During the show he walks by (-he was trying to look inconspicuous which is virtually impossible w/that white hair) and I said in a nice friendly voice"Hey Miles." The jerk heard me and gave me the meanest look. All that I said was "Hey Miles". It's not like I yelled he was an ass or something like that. Does he look in the mirror while he gets dressed?? He didn't even match.

It was a really great show. I hope that Sting comes back around the Philly here soon.

I forgot to mention that I was the really obnoxious person in the 200 section who yelled "Sting I Love You!" at every chance I got. And I'm also the one who screamed at the top of my lungs "Dominic" during his guitar solo on Fields Of Gold.

Well sorry all but I must tell my tale:

Front row in Camden..(towards the left) Cant get no better than that! it was steamy inside and out. The E center was a great place to see a show. He did ELTSDIM and a roaring version of When the world is running down. The crowd was the BEST crord I have seen at ANY Sting concert ever (except the police). Cheb was there!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was amazing . Even though he messed up the beginning of the song LMAO. He wasn't in sync or I was drunk lol. Ahh to be so near..At one point I scremed out so loud that I echoed through the arena heee and he did look at me with a smile when I did it YEAH! My boyfriend was ever so embarrased..The tall ships were right across the way from the E center and Sting waited for the fireworks at 9:30 to end What a guy! What a night! What a concert! Blew away last years Orphem show! Chris was great! Cheb was great! The keyboard guy was amazing! Im still high! We took the ferry back freaked out! And got hammered at a local bar near our hotel with other Sting fans!! To top it off, Atalantic City (the next day) was a big win. YEAH!!! paid for my 2 tickets and three nights hotel !! you got to love the MAN!!!

Wishing he would do Fragile maybe at Bostons Show on Friday !!!
