It was absolutely exhilerating!!!! It was probably the best Sting show I've seen! Being in the 10th row didn't hurt! The band was so much better than back in Nov when I saw them in NY. Sting was really on tonite!! Looked like he was having a ball, really into it. Didn't say much to the audience, but the music spoke for itself. When the World is Running Down rendition just rocked! It went on and on, everyone was on their feet. BND had a jazzier feel to it. Moon over Bourbon St was awesome, his voice was really great on it! Missed Cheb Mami on DR, but Sting sang some lyrics, which I couldn't understand in the introduction where Mami usually sings. Sting's voice sounded a little hoarse at the start of the show, but it got better. I can't remember now, but on one song he held out the last note for eons and the audience went crazy.
I think it was the same setlist as usual. No Message, tho. I recall he did a great version of that back in Nov.
Sting wore the black muscle shirt, and he had another shirt on underneath it, a grey one that was a tad longer than the black one and you could see it hanging down a bit. He wore cargo pants, I think they were greenish and the boots. He looked great. I had my binos and could really see his facial expressions and he just looked like he was really into it. He also looked gorgeous!
I can't think of anymore right now, but I'm sure I'm forgetting other highlights, so someone else who was there, please help me out!
Oh, I know, this was cute...during BND,he added an extra word in the line that says "Why would you put yourself thru all that (shit) again." He smiled when he sang it.
Anyway, I'm forgetting a lot because I'm tired, but wanted to post anyway because I'm still so excited!
Just a couple of more notes...Sting didn't wear the hat during MOBS. Dominic had these really different, funky pants on! The print was a collage of different womens' mouths, smiling. One of the mouths was Marilyn Monroe's, I think. They were really different! Also, during FOG, Doninic hit a rare wrong chord! I was watching him thru the binos, and when he did it, he winced, so I quickly panned over to Sting, who didn't miss a beat, just ignored it and kept on singing. Dominic looked tired, but then again, he always looks that way to me. He played quite a bit to his audience on the left, coming to the edge of the stage, bending down and playing to the people in the front row. Chris Botti seemed to play a lot this time around. He sounded great, but was a bit overwhelming in a couple of the songs, Sting seemed to have been competing with him, to have his voice heard over the trumpet. There was so much energy on the stage, it was contagious! You won't be disappointed this time around!
Thanks for listening!
OK, first of all, what did you all do to Shawn Colvin in NJ the other night? Last night at the Hartford show, she was very humble and sounded like she had a horrible response there. Said she changed the whole set last night because of her experience. I thought she was great although at 35 minutes, I was ready for her to take her leave and send Sting on! She played a 45 minute set and then I think Sting came on at 9pm.
I've been waiting for someone else to do a review on the show, isn't there anyone else on the list that went to that show besides Karen and me? It seems quiet in that area all the time! What can I say? The concert was spectacular. Dominic was mesmerizing doing Fields of Gold, Chris Botti superb on Perfect Love Gone Wrong (was that the one? I don't know how you folks give detailed reviews and remember everything!) and Sting, well, does he get any better??? "When the World is Running Down" went on for what seems forever, but still enjoyable.
Didn't get to see Kipper or Chris wandering around as a couple had suggested, but your trick on getting a camera in DID work Judy. Dominic was looking good, he was wearing his smile on his pants. You'll see what iImean when he gets to you! Does the man ever smile?
