I had the good fortune to be at the concert Saturday at Darian Lake, Buffalo, NY. I had in my company my wife, step daughter and her friend. My step daughter and her friend are both 14!!! They have been brainwashed by someone playing the Brand New Day CD religiously at home!!!
Being at Darian Lake which for those that know has the amusement park as part of the complex the combination of the amusement park & Sting was a winning one!
Myself and the wife are trained veterans who naturally bopped along to the great performance that HRH Sting was putting on but to my surprise the 2 young pups were also bopping along. There favourites turned out to be " the Puff daddy song" and Desert Rose which they both sing around the house and most of Northern Pa for that matter!!! They also came out with the the typical responses " Did Sting do that song....Roxanne...ELTSDIM..etc"
So there is hope yet!!!
My own quick review was that Roxannne was brilliant, Desert Rose was surprisingly good even without Cheb or mini Cheb doing the vocals...just lil ol Sting.
The Police songs got the biggest cheers which is to be expected. What was a pleasant surprise to me was that being orignally from the UK I went to his Royal Albert Hall shows which although musically superb the crowd seemd to be of the financially able type!! Where as your average fan would wave cigarette lighters for the slow songs the RAH fans would wave there Rolexs'! But at this gig there seemed to be so much of a good atmosphere. There were approx 15 - 20,000 people and all seemed to be enjoying themselves singing at the tops of there voices especially for the Police songs. Been a while since I have been to a Sting gig where there has been such a good atmosphere so to all that were there ...Thank You for making it a good day!!!
