I saw Sting at Riverport Amphitheatre in St. Louis, MO last night, and it was a great show. Lyle Lovett was the opening act, and during his set, Sting came out and joined Lyle on a song called (I think) "Long, Tall Texan." The audience laughed loudly when Sting joined Lyle onstage, because Sting was wearing an oversized, white cowboy hat.
Here's the setlist; I copied it from a previous posting from Deercreek in July, because it is exactly the same.
I enjoyed some of the background lighting effects, and also the dancing by the two horn players! The sax player's name was Butch Thomas, I think, and he was wearing a St. Louis Cardinals shirt. Several times during the show, he was introduced as being from St. Louis, which drew many cheers from the crowd. Sting danced a bit with the horn players, but no famous leaps, save a short one at the very end of the show. He was wearing an olive green tank top, army pants, and black boots. And yes, he did have a goatee!
I personally would have liked him to play even more of his solo works, but I guess he also aims to please the many Police fans in attendance; those songs certainly brought the most applause. Too bad he didn't play longer, also, the show was only 1 1/2 hours long. But I had a great time anyway, he's my favorite musician!
