The Joint, Hard Rock Hotel - Las Vegas, Nevada, United States

by Jeremy on October 16, 1999

Its late, I have been drinking, and I dont have time for a long review, so I will only mention the relevant changes or incidents.

Setlist was the same except that Desert Rose was placed in its correct spot between Roxanne and BOTN, they also added Every little thing tonight...other than that the set was the same.

Desert Rose was played very well tonight, as was Every breath, and Moon over bourbon street was great too.

Incedents of note included Sting messing up Seven Days not once, but twice he started it over, and third time got it right. Chris Botti spat on an a member of the audience by accident. Manu broke a drum stick that hit one of the back up singers in the head, Stings voice great again tonight, audience was up for it, sound was excellent, although I am sure there will be the usual expected contradiction.

Tape turned out nice again for those who care (you know who you are).

Funny story for the night, Bill and I were cashing out at the casino when I felt a little dizzy, and found it weird as I had only a few drinks, after about 20 seconds it passed, and I realised there had been an earthquake.....

Tomorrows headlines, Earth moves after Sting show!!

Love to all.

Nothing really to add to Jeremy's nice review from last night other than to say I cannot substantiate anything about there being an earthquake in Vegas this morning. I'm beginning to wonder what was in those "orange juices" he continued to order.

I liked the second night concert much, much more than the first. The sound was better, Sting had more energy, and I have never seen him goof up before as he did on Seven Days. It was really something to see him stop the band not once, but TWICE, and then admit that he had forgotten the words. He said as he tried to focus on the words during the second go-around he found himself focusing too hard and therefore had no chance whatsoever of remembering them. Only after a lyric sheet was brought out was he able to get it right.

I think Sting looked 10 years younger tonight. He looked like he did in the Fortress video. It was fun to be hounded by the security people as I rushed the stage three times to take pictures. They didn't care about people taking pictures, they just didn't want people getting up in the front to do it.

2 or 3 of the 4 young men right in front of us talked the entire show, without a pause. Makes you wonder why they would pay $250 per seat to not even watch or enjoy the show.

Missed not having Maggie and the others to meet up with on Friday. Maggie...I don't think the pyscho drummer was on hand Friday.

The third show starts in about 3 hours. We're sure glad we decided to go to this one as well. Wonder what the crowd will be like for this one, as it was added as a third show just 3 weeks ago.

Great show! We had 12th row tickets,(at $320 I expected it to be great, and was not disappointed!), but since I was standing at the side taking pictures, they let me up front. Someone from the tour was nice enough to put me in the front row, I didn't get his name but will be forever grateful!! The show was a little uneven at first, and Sting didn't seem to remember the words to all the songs, but about the third of the way into it they seemed to really get into it and it was terrific! Met the drummer and the trumpet player afterwards, (they were just wandering around, and no one seemed to recognize them), and caught a quick glimpse of Sting and at least got a handshake!

See it if you can!
