Entertainment Centre - Adelaide, Australia

by Greg Hurrell on October 23, 1996

I saw the Adelaide concert.

I'm So Happy I Can't Stop Crying: For this he got a guy from the audience to come up on stage and sing with him. Sting worked really well with the audience, he was really witty and relaxed, then again with all his experience you'd expect him to be

Three thousand cheers for Benji, my buddy, who was the lucky man in Adelaide. I was so happy for him. We knew that Sting always asks for a volunteer to help with this song, and Benji was ready; jumping up at just the right time. The lucky devil not only got to shake hands with Sting, hug Sting, ruffle Sting's hair, ask Sting to marry him, and get Sting's autograph, but he also got to perform on stage with one of the most amazing backing bands ever!!! I can't beleive his luck.

I am so jealous! Sting didn't do "Shape Of My Heart" in Adelaide! I really like that song!

OVERALL: Sting was dressed in a black vest and pants, the whole band was dressed in basic black, Kenny wore a black and white shirt, I wish Sting had taken his vest off for Demolition Man.

He wore the same in Adelaide. Where has his sense of personal hygiene gone? The yoga must be having an effect on him. Usual Sting wears a couple different shirts throughout a concert, and usual goes topless for a bit too. He also usually swaps guitars a couple times. But like you said, this didn't happen this time.

What was really interesting for me was the politics that seemed to be going on between him and Vinnie (the drummer). I got he impression that Sting had asked him to keep quiet and not to overplay, because whenever Sting's back was turned, Vinnie was pulling funny faces, pantomime drumming, or pretending to hit cymbals without actually hitting them..... very interesting!

Nevertheless, it was the best concert I've ever been to! The best song was "The Hounds of Winter"! It was so intense, it ROCKED. The house just about caved in! Post or email your thoughts if you've got some you'd like to share? Which song did you like best? Was there any of those politics going on at your concert?
