I went to last night's concert. He came on about 9pm & finished just before 11pm. I then had to drive 2 1/2 hours home, bleary eyed, & didn't get to sleep til 2 am.
It was well worth it though, excellent performance.
He started with '1000 years' & played most songs from BND. The biggest crowd reaction was to the old Police songs though. It was interesting to see the profile of a Sting audience - there were kids around 10 years of age to grandparents bobbing away.
There were a couple of times his voice started to break away & he sounded like an ordinary mortal (Moon over Bourbon..). Hope this was temporary & not the beginning of a gradual decline in that magical voice. Be a pity if that voice was lost to this world.
When you think about all the concerts he's screamed at over the last 25 yrs it's only natural that something has to give sooner or later (he's pushing 50 after all). Then again there's Tom Jones still sounding awesome at 61, so there's hope.
