Orpheum Theater - Boston, Massachusettes, New York, United States

Having just had the pleasure of witnessing three consecutive Sting shows, I have returned damn near broke and a whole lot happier. Other than ticket prices, these were the best shows that I have heard Sting play since the ...Nothing Like the Sun tour. One of the major reasons for this change in the norm, is the re- interpretations of the Brand New Day album. Desert Rose, minus Cheb Mami, became a much more aggressive anthem of longing, complete with agressive playing from Manu Katche and Dominic Miller. On that topic, the new band seems to be on the same wavelenth, and really enjoying themselves. Fill Her Up, Perfect love and After the Rain were dynamic dense and funky booty thangs. Rosanne, no, Roxanne , has a great little subtle dub feel. Shit, the whole thing was good. The addition of Kipper on keyboard programming and Chis Botti on the trumpet really elevated the set. Stings vocals were sharp all night and his bass playing has never been better, including The Police days. Hope all this can remain once the tour moves to the bigger venues. Only complaints, longer set (all 3 nights were between 105-115 minutes) and cheaper tickets. We can't all fly home to castles and Villas. Once last ramble, the yuppies and baby boomer schmucks who won't stand up until a police song and who complain when one feels the need to actually move to music, suck and are missing the point. Cheers!

I saw him again tonight- same setlist!! but he came out to sing MIAB wearing a tight black tank top!! woohooo!!!! then when he came back to do fragile, he had thrown on a kind of glittery shiny silver/black button down shirt over it.

Before the show i was hanging out with this guy who was really into Dominic Miller- he had brought 2 of Dominic's CD's to get signed. Well, the way it was set up, they had it so the van carrying the band would drive past us down this alley to the backstage door and let the band out there- we decided to wait anyway and just wave at the band. Well, the van drives in, and the guys all get out and head into the theater. Then we see someone walking back towards us from the van! It was Dominic! One of the security guys had told him about the guy who had both of his CD/s, and Dom came back looking for him!! It was so cool- he signed the CD's for him, posed for pictures, signed things for all of us who were waiting there, and even joked about how if anyone wanted Stings autograph, he could forge a good one- just a squiggle and a line- lol!!!

My seats tonight were 2nd row, over to the right- Sting came way over and played right on the edge of the stage- right in front of us a few times! After he played the last encore ( Fragile) he walked the length of the stage and shook hands with people- I was so lucky- i was leaning right up by the stage, and I got a quick hand slap and then a solid handshake, eye to eye contact, and a smile! What a night!
