SCUBA goin well. We had pool work this weekend as well as a skin dive out in the ocean (A skin dive is basically snorkeling in a wetsuit w/ weights). We just learned the NAUI (National Association of Underwater Instructors) dive tables Monday. More class today. Friday more pool work...and then...saturday...we DIVE!!!! and then Sunday...we DIVE!!!! Wahoo! Still working the Family/PJ/Stateside trip in October. Got 2 tickets to the Ed solo gig (the first PJ related event). I've figured out how to get from the stateside AMC terminal to my parents place (i'm flying commercial from Seattle into San Jose and having them come get me. It will mean I either a) sit around at SEA-TEC for anywhere from no time to many many MANY hours b) if it *is* closer to MANY hours I may change my flight and just pay the extra amount to get on an earlier flight to San Ho). Of course this assumes the AMC flight is direct to Seattle and not LA...if it goes to LA first I'll save a lot of time (albeit no money) by flying to San Ho from LAX. Just about every concrete plan I have is still not really concrete. Hehehehe. I have the paperwork almost all filled out for my EML leave. I'm waiting till I get this month's Leave and Earnings Statement (LES) so I know exactly how much vacation time I have accrued and whether I can just be honest or fudge my leave form ;P I got the Antioch -> LA -> Bridge transportation issues worked out too. As much as I hate to do it with my own car readily available, I'm renting a car to drive down to LA. That way I can drop it off at the San Ho airport (which is like a mile from the hotel that will be Bridge Benefit HQ/Grand Central). If I took Kaci (my car), I'd hafta hassle over how to get it back to my parents place, get back to Bridge, and lose several hours of sleep in the bargain. I think $40 is worth avoiding those hassles. Yeah...I've gotten soft in my old age. No sleeping in the car planned for this trip, no massive fifteen hour drives between gigs, no cans of cold chili for dinner, no searching through dumpsters for automobile air filters, no showers in hotel pools at 6AM while guests at the continental breakfast buffet look on...no lying to my parents about where I am, no missing school...and no travel without tickets. Gawwwwwwd. I didn't realize just HOW soft I've gotten. Daaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmn! I feel so...stodgy. Man I tell ya...back when I was poor these kind of trips were so much more adventurous. *sigh* I should have realize the times they were a changing that day in Philly when I sat outside that upscale bar smoking my cigar and not caring the two jack and cokes I ordered came to like 15 bucks. Hell...I remember back in Maui 98 how mortified I was that my "fruity-comes-in-an-actual-coconut-double-shot-please" drink cost 10 bucks. Now I'm paying $40 just so things are more "convenient". Bloody hell I have SO gone downhill. Heheheheheheheheh I mean...there are ppl planning to drive from Bridge Benefit in San Ho to the groundworks benefit in Seattle...that's like a 15 frickin hour drive...and 15 hours is pushing getting to Seattle in time!!! Two years ago, and this scares me, but I would be trying to get in on one of those roadtrips...switching out the driving every three or four hours to sleep I guess. Somethings...they are simply worth the money. So anyway...I'm coming into the office at 2AM on Sunday to try to get bridge tix online. We're on a 100 Mb/s line here at work so I have a better chance... current mood: Stodgy
