So...not only did I *finally* find and order a replacement AC adpter for the out of box, sans all accessories minidisc recorder I bought super cheap several months ago (after losing the Aiwa, in my PCS to Japan, that i bought during airborne school in april 99) so I can charge those funky batteries and actually use the thing...my Sony TCD-D100 DAT deck arrived in the mail today. Even better...I have tested the dat deck a bit and have concluded it is fit to tape shows with and it doesn't NEED an overhaul (although once I get my sony d8 back from IT'S overhaul, it's getting one anyway). And I was worried that I might not have anything on hand for my upcoming stint. I really want to get ed solo on tape. Tori as well, and chances are I'll try to get at least SOME of bridge on tape. Bridge depends on where I sit and with whom I sit... So Now I have a portable DAT deck on hand, a MD on hand, and a second portable DAT deck at the shop. I've had two sets of mics (one cardiod one omni) for some time now. Now I can do some *real* multitrack recordings! With the decrease in size between the D8 and the D100 I got more room to get shit in--I can easily bring the d100, sbm1, md, and both sets of mics in. Now I have a *complete* backup rig. Heh...run one rig totally hidden with the mics under my shirt and just laugh if security tries to bust me! I just wish my studio DAT deck hadn't gotten lost in the mail :( I talked with the ebay seller (ok emailed whatever) and he's promised to refund my money if I don't get it within the next ten days. Wahoo! expensive toys! expensive hobbies! yay! Now let's see...all I need is my $2500 dollar Neumann mic/preamp upgrade and I'll be hot to trot! Then I'll have *three* portable recording rigs! Man I am beginning to feel like a TRUE taper geek now! :) Luckily there is no concert scene here so I won't have such a dilemna deciding over the Neumanns or SCUBA gear. Am I being boring enough yet? I am rather annoyed that the onsale date for the Tori show in Chicago hasn't been announced yet--especially since most of the tour (even dates *after chicago) HAVE been announced. Neither is the event listed at the venue's web page. Yet the offical tori site and poll star both have it listed... Called off duty early today because of Typhoon Nari--which means I went home an additional hour early. Wind gusts of 110 knots are forecasted! Sigh. Time for a Corona. Don't suppose anyone is a big Coal Chamber fan, anyone you know? I just finished burning one of their sets--sounds really nice. I just wonder if I'll really ever listen to it much. It'd be nice if someone out there would appreciate it... I got my package from Christa yesterday. Ohmygod but she is sooooo cool. She and Brian went down to see Radiohead at Shoreline the other day and went to a Neil Gaiman book signing while they were in the SF area. Christa got Neil to sign one of his novels for me!!!! That girl is simply tre cool. Hmmm...that reminds me that I need to pester Ed about that particular RH recording. current mood: geeky
