Long Distance - The Best of Runrig

The Apple Came Down

    The apple came down
    It had to fall
    Where man grew wise
    Minds grew small
Newton and Adam lost and found
The apple must fall to the ground

Life supports genious at the end of time
The greatest living brain alive
A breath of transmitting from a falling star
The power is sole and reaches far

There's not long left
It's a race against time
They say it's close
He could loose his mind
He lost his body here on planet Earth
Where he holds the key to the Universe

A mighty spark
To keep him there
Triggered to power
Wired to pain
Directing Jack Roger when the going gets rough
Don't believe in God and all that stuff

    The apple came down
    It had to fall
    Where man grew wise
    Minds grew small
Newton and Adam lost and found
The apple must fall to the ground

Ravenscraig

Word came like a hammer
And fell down like a shroud
And has got me drinking to turn back the clock
To this industriulous town

I've know craft
And I bolted well
Trying to keep the lowlands red
But all I get is control in foreign hands
Other colours instead

All I want is a roof over my head
All I want is a steady job
All I want to do is say "I love you"
    With every penny I've got

And all I think about is Davey and Jane
Give them some kind of chance in life
But the water running out these strip little gates
Has got me walking this line

We never stretched our dancehall dreams
We got it just about right
There's little escape from a working town
And from a working life

I placed my future inthe palm of your hand
One autum Friday at the Church of All Saints
There's no investment here in life or in love
And now it's getting too late

All I want is a roof over my head
All I want is a steady job
All I want to do is say "I love you"
    With every penny I've got

And all I think about is Davey and Jane
Give them some kind of chance in life
But the water running out these strip little gates
Has got me walking this line
