Melba Eleanore nee Hutto McCafferty Spring

Here is a picture of Mom and Roy's logging truck.  Hard to believe that my 80# mother (even in her younger years) drove both the log truck as well as the milk and stubb trucks, making deliveries all over western Klickitat County.  I guess they had one truck (what they called the stubb truck, I think) that they hauled freight to Portland in/on.

During the depression, the two of them (with separate rigs) drove freight into the Portland shipyards - even when the union was on strike.  Roy had striking workers hanging off his running boards/mirrors and knocked them off with ?? that he had in the truck.  Mom said she was in front (or behind - I cannot remember now) and she was scared to death that they wouldn't make it out of there alive!
