motorsheep, renowned for their quirky melodic sensibilities and pounding rhythm section have been flirting between underground cult status and commercial recognition. the independent 3-piece have carved a niche market for their raw; power-pop sound, approaching recording and gigging with honesty and humour with a strong feel for the music they play. over the years motorsheep have built up a strong reputation for their independent releases and dedication to their supporters through a free fan club.
formed over eight years ago in levin; motorsheep are now regulars on the palmy live scene. besides headlining their own gigs including two north island tours; motorsheep have supported a number of national and international bands including dead moon (usa), horace pinker (usa), citizen fish (uk) all you can eat (usa) h-block (aus) and gas huffer (usa).
over the last 3 years motorsheep have enjoyed a string of "hits" on radio massey's top 11 (alzheimers/moisture/pinochet/numb/x-factor/cutting in/jennifer 8/space cake). with a swag of independent releases behind them (2x coloured 7 inches and 1 cd album plus numerous compilation appearances) motorsheep are constantly refining their stunning live performances.
fresh from headlining the international 'zine festival in nelson; motorsheep are ready to confront and amaze audiences with their high energy garage-rock. also watch for their second album coming out early next year.
