"Oasis In Need Of A Drop Of Water"

The Gallagher brothers decided to watch their own heroes, Manchester City, play at Wycombe Wanderers last Tuesday [November 10th]. The evening did not get off to a great start.

Noel was mistaken for a tramp as he sought entry to the ground, which is near his country home. According to the Wycombe receptionist Nicky Pembroke: "I thought he needed a bath."

However, the pair were both very friendly, she reports, though once the game began matters took a predictable path. Noel and Liam, plus six friends including the rap artist Goldie, naturally became the target of a few unflattering chants from some in the home crowd.

The brothers' reply was the now obligatory V-sign which seems to accompany most of their public appearances. Thankfully, though, when the final whistle consigned City to defeat, the Wycombe fans came up with something a little more imaginative. They chanted: "Can you hear Oasis sing? No, no."
